How To Fix 5G Not Working On iPhone 12

Are you always getting annoyed because 5G is not working on your iPhone 12?

Apple rarely releases a new device or feature that does not work. Being a brand with a high reputation, this seems unlikely. However, ever since Apple released 5G on their latest devices, some users are unable to utilize it on iPhone 12.

What’s weirder is that 5G should be enabled by default. But this does not seem to be the case on some iPhone 12. Although there can be several factors as to why this would happen, this is a big disappointment among iPhone users.

Thus, we hear you, and we’ve got your back! That is why we have created a guide on how to fix the issue with 5G not working on iPhone 12. Find out how you can fix this infuriating problem by reading this article.

Now, let’s dive right in!

1. Check With Your Carrier.

First and foremost, you should contact your carrier to see if they are currently supporting it. In some cases, a change in your existing plan may be required as 5G can cost you more. This means that your carrier may also need to charge you higher, so it is important to check this first with your carrier.

Once you have confirmed that you are all set for 5G, check if 5G is still not working on your iPhone 12. If that is the case, you will need to proceed with performing some troubleshooting steps.

2. Toggle Airplane Mode On And Off.

The next thing you should do if there are no changes is to toggle the Airplane Mode from ‘off’ to ‘on’, then back ‘off’. This just means that you need to enable and disable Airplane Mode.

But why Airplane Mode? Airplane Mode was an additional feature to quickly disable services like cellular data (3G/4G, LTE/5G), Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. Since it can temporarily turn off these services, it allows your iPhone to go offline without the need to turn off the device itself.

Here’s how you can toggle Airplane Mode on and off:

  1. First, swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen to open the Control Center.
  2. Next, select the orange Airplane icon to turn on Airplane Mode.
  3. Then wait for a minute or two before clicking it again to turn it off.

Now, check if 5G is still not working on your iPhone 12. Hopefully, it’s already working. Otherwise, you can go over the next method.

3. Reset Network Settings.

If you still see the problem, you can reset your ‘Network Settings’. This may or may not work 100% of the time, but it is still worth trying.

Though you need to be mindful that resetting your network settings will reset your Wi-Fi networks, Wi-Fi passwords, cellular settings, and VPN settings. So before resetting your network settings, try the former methods first if you haven’t done so.

Here’s how you can reset your ‘Network Settings’:

  1. Start by opening the Settings app on your iPhone and go to General.
  2. Next, click Reset and select Reset Network Settings.
  3. After that, enter your passcode.
  4. A window should open up on your screen, so choose Reset Network Settings to confirm your choice.

Like all the previously mentioned methods, we are hoping that this fixed the issue for you. But if all else fails, let’s go over to our next method.

4. Update To The Latest iOS Version.

You may be getting tired of always seeing this method in some of our iPhone-related guides. But trust us, you can never go wrong with updating your iOS. It should always be a part of your essential troubleshooting steps whenever you experience any iPhone-related issues.

Moreover, make sure that your iPhone is always connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Also, remember that it should have at least 50% battery life. Furthermore, downloading an update may take some time as this totally depends on your network.

Here’s how you can update your iPhone to the latest iOS version:

  1. Start by opening the Settings app on your iPhone and go to General.
  2. Once you’re there, select Software Update and check if an update will show up.

  1. Then if there is one, select Install Now to begin the update. This can take a couple of minutes to an hour, as it is dependent on your network.
  2. Finally, your iPhone will automatically restart once the update is completed.

When you’re done with all of that, you should verify if 5G is still not working. We’re crossing our fingers that this did the trick for you.

5. Restore To Factory Settings.

One look and you know that you should be skipping this step. Although a factory restore erases the information and settings on your iPhone and installs the latest version of iOS software, this is an essential step to make sure that it refreshes your iPhone’s internal settings, which may be causing the issue.

Here’s how you can restore your iPhone to the factory setting:

  1. Start by opening the Settings app on your iPhone and go to General.
  2. Next, click Reset and select Erase All Content and Settings.
  1. Then once you are asked, enter your passcode or Apple ID password.
  2. Now, you should confirm that you want to erase your device.
  3. Finally, just wait for a few minutes for your data to be completely erased.

With that out of the way, you should be all set! You should now have your 5G up and running.
