There’s always that one person whenever you go on a road trip that needs to eat or pay a visit to the toilet along the journey.
That means making frequent stops along the route just so they can “go” during the entire long journey.
So rather than to scuffle and fight on which rest place to stop or which Freshii to eat at.
Why not let Google Maps handle that for once?
I’ll show you how to add a stop in Google Maps and find the best (and worthwhile) restaurants, cheapest gas stations, and other locales that you might need for your trip.
Let’s do this.
How to Add a Stop in Google Maps: 4 Steps
1. Turning Your Location Services On
In order for you to add pit stops along your route, you’re going to need to turn on your Location Services (if you already have Location Services turned on) then you can jump straight to 2).
Here’s how you can turn on Location Services on your device:
If you’re on iPhone
Step 1: Head over to your Settings and then select Privacy.
Step 2: Next select Location Services.
Step 3: Alright. Make sure that Location Services is toggled on.
Step 4: Staying on the same page, scroll down a little until you Google Maps. Make sure that Google Maps is set to While Using the App or Always.
If you’re on Android
Note: Finding the location services may vary from each device
Step 1: Head over to your Settings and then tap on Location (it’s under Personal).
Step 2: Next tap on Mode and then toggle your location services on.
Great.
Now that you’ve your location services turned on you can now move on to adding your stops along the route on Google Maps.
2. Start Your Journey
Step 1: Like you always do every day, go ahead and set your desired destination and then tap Start.
Step 2: Now that you’re in navigation mode, tap on that magnifying glass that you see to your top upper right-hand corner.
Step 3: This will bring up all the popular suggestions for stops along the way such as gas stations, or restaurants or grocery stores if you wanna grab a cabbage along the way. If you chose a category such as, for instance, gas stations, then you will see all the gas stations that are located along your route.
But that’s not the only thing Google Maps does …
Google Maps also shows you the prices of each of the gas stations too!
Pretty cool huh? The same goes for shops or restaurants and other locales that are located along your route.
Step 4: Once you have chosen a place that you want to go to, just tap on it and it’ll automatically be added to your route.
Voila! You’ve just added a stop in your Google Maps.
3. If You Want to Add a Specific Location as a Stop.
Step 1: All you have to do is just simply search for your location.
Step 2: Chosen your pit stop? Just tap on it and your route will automatically be updated with your chosen pit stop.
How to Delete a Stop in Google Maps.
Step 1: If you’re on either Android or iOS, then you can remove your stop by tapping on the location pin that is on top of your stop and then select Remove stop.
A few alternate Ways.
Step 1: You can also tap on this ^ icon which you can see to your bottom right-hand side and then just tap on Remove next stop.
There’s also a much easier way if you’re on Android…
Step 1: If you’re on Android you can also tap on the X button that is to your bottom left-hand side corner and then tap on Remove next stop.
