How to Add or Remove Widgets in Windows 11

Wondering how to add or remove widgets in Windows 11 on your PC?

If you liked the News and Interests feature in Windows 10, you’d appreciate the widgets panel in Windows 11. You can use this panel to check the weather, read the news, and keep up with your favorite topics with a single click (or swipe).

Widgets are an evolution of the Interest feature, with a much nicer appearance (more on this in a bit). Another good thing about this feature is that it is customizable, which means that you can rearrange and resize the widgets as well. You can also add or remove particular widgets according to your preferences on Windows 11.

In this guide, we will walk you through the process of adding and removing widgets in a few easy steps.

Let’s get started.

What Are Windows 11 Widgets?

Windows 11 widgets are small, graphical applications available directly from the taskbar created to provide quick access to information such as weather, sports scores, traffic situations, and the like.

According to the Microsoft Team, widgets are a one-stop shop for everything you care about.

Windows 11 widgets are similar to the Windows Vista and 7’s gadgets which were later discontinued due to security reasons. The dedicated icon on the taskbar looks like two rectangles. The icon gives you access to several Microsoft-powered widgets and a web search bar powered by Bing.

Additionally, you’ll find a calendar powered by Outlook and a To-Do widget powered by Microsoft To-Do. Upon scrolling down, you will see curated selections of news articles that match your preferences regarding Microsoft news.

1. Add Widgets in Windows 11.

Fortunately, adding your favorite widgets in Windows 11 is quite simple. You can do so by either going to the Windows Settings section or by directly clicking on the icon present on your taskbar.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Press Windows + W keys simultaneously on your keyboard to open the Widgets tab. Alternatively, you can also click on the dedicated taskbar icon to do so.
  2. Once you are inside the Widgets tab, scroll down and click on the Add widgets button, as shown below.

  1. Now select the widgets that you want to add by clicking on the plus icon (+) against them.
  2. Once done, close the screen.

As simple as that. This should add the widgets in Windows 11 without any hassle.

2. Try Using CleanMyPC.

If your system cannot accomplish the desired action after you have tried both methods in this guide, then maybe your system is corrupt.

This is why you should perform a deep cleaning of your PC before proceeding with this guide to remove any bugs or corruption errors. When this happens, using a good PC cleaner is a great idea, as manual cleaning can be a time- and energy-consuming process.

In case you’ve never used a PC cleaner before, we recommend CleanMyPC.
