AirPrint Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It!

Can’t print via AirPrint on your iPhone after updating to iOS 17?

I’ve got you covered.

Whether your documents refuse to print or you see a “No AirPrint Printers Found” error, the solutions below should do the trick.

Before Anything: Check Your Printer

If you see a “No AirPrint Printers Found” message on the AirPrint menu, check your printer and ensure it’s turned on and connected to your network.

AirPrint relies on Bonjour to enable wireless printing. If your printer is not connected to your home network, then your iPhone won’t be able to detect it.

You should also check your printer for errors. Look for signs like low ink, no paper, or other flashing lights.

Consult your printer’s manual or online guide to fix any errors that your printer is showing.

1. Reconnect Your iPhone to Your Network

Refreshing the Wi-Fi connection on your iPhone often resolves AirPrint-related issues.

This renews your IP address and ensures that your iPhone is properly connected to your home network.

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Go to Wi-Fi
  3. Tap the toggle switch beside Wi-Fi

  1. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Enable Wi-Fi again and connect to your network.

2. Check Printer & iPhone Connection

This is a common reason why AirPrint is not working. For AirPrint to work, your iPhone and printer must be connected to the same network.

If not, then your iPhone won’t be able to detect your AirPrint-compatible printer.

Make sure that both of your devices are connected to the same network, and try printing again.

3. Check Compatibility

If your printer is new, checking the specifications to ensure it’s AirPrint compatible is a must

Your iPhone might not detect your printer because it doesn’t support AirPrint or requires an initial setup to enable the feature.

4. Restart the Bonjour Network

As mentioned, AirPrint relies on Bonjour for wireless printing. I recommend restarting your entire network to ensure that everything is in order.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Start by turning off your printer. Press the Power button on your printer or unplug it from the outlet.

Restart iPhone
  1. Unplug your router from the outlet.
  2. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Turn on all your devices.

Note

If your router isn’t plugged into the wall, find the power button to turn it off.

5. Update Your iPhone

Since iOS 17 is still new, the version you’ve installed might have a problem that is related to AirPrint.

To rule this out, install the latest version of iOS to patch any bugs and errors.

Here’s how you can update your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to General > Software Update
  3. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Download and Install
  4. Once the new software is ready, follow the prompts to install the update.

Note

  • Your device can restart several times while installing the update.
  • Ensure your iPhone has at least 50% battery before installing updates. It’s best to keep your device plugged into the wall charger to avoid interruptions.
  • Allow at least 15 minutes for the update to install, especially if it’s a major update (iOS 15 to iOS 16).

To avoid missing future updates, enable automatic updates on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Go to General > Software Update > Automatic Updates
  3. Enable Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates
