2. Use Another Browser. 

Your current browser could be experiencing technical issues, which causes some websites to malfunction. If you can’t use the autocomplete function on Gmail, access your account on a different browser in the meantime. 

We suggest using popular browsers such as Chrome, Opera, and Firefox, which are optimized for most websites and rarely encounter problems. 

3. Re-Login to Your Account. 

Your account data may have gotten corrupted due to bugs and glitches on the platform. If a certain feature is not working correctly on Gmail, try closing your current session and start a new one to refresh your data. 

Here’s how you can re-login to your Gmail account: 

  1. First, click on your Profile icon on the top-right corner of the window.

4. Disable Your Extensions. 

Most browsers today support extensions and add-ons. These are third-party tools that provide additional features to specific websites. However, Gmail may not be compatible with some of your extensions, which causes some features not to work.

  1. On your browser, click on the More Options button and choose Settings
  2. Next, open the Extensions tab from the side drawer.

5. Clear Your Browsing Data. 

Corrupted browsing data could also be the reason the auto complete feature is not working on Gmail. To rule this out, we suggest clearing your browsing data, including caches and cookies, to eliminate corrupted or broken files.

  1. First, open your browser and press the CTRL + H keys on your keyboard. 
  2. On the History tab, click on the Clear Browsing Data option from the side menu. 
  3. Now, change the Time Range to All Time and include caches and cookies in the process.

6. Check Your Recipient’s Address. 

The auto complete feature on Gmail only works for email addresses that you’ve already sent an email to. Gmail automatically adds these addresses to your data to appear on the suggestion when you write another email.

7. Check Your Network Connection. 

A slow internet connection could also be the reason auto complete is not working. To confirm this, run a test on your network using Fast.com to measure its current upload and download bandwidth.

If the result indicates that your network is the problem, reboot your modem to re-establish the connection with your service provider. Unplug your router’s power cable from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before reconnecting it. 

Restart Router

Perform another test afterward to check if the restart worked. If not, contact your ISP and ask them to fix their service. 

8. Contact Google Support.
