How to Fix Camera Not Working on Chromebook

Here’s what you need to do: 

  1. First, open the Notification panel of your Chromebook in the lower right corner of the screen. 
  2. After that, click on the Power icon to turn off your device. 
  3. Wait for at least five seconds before turning on your Chromebook

Once done, try using the camera again to check if the problem is solved. 

2. Update Your Chromebook. 

A faulty version of ChromeOS could also be the reason your camera isn’t working correctly. To rule this out, try updating your Chromebook to the latest version possible to patch bugs and errors.

  1. Open your Chromebook and access the Notification panel in the bottom right corner. 
  2. After that, click the Gear icon to open Settings
  3. Now, scroll to the bottom and click on About ChromeOS
  4. Finally, click the Check for Updates option and follow the prompts.

Restart your Chromebook after the update and see if your camera works. 

3. Refresh Your Chromebook. 

If none of the solutions above worked, the last thing you can do is refresh your Chromebook. This should clear any temporary data on your device and ensure that there are no bugs and glitches on the OS. 

Here’s how you can refresh your Chromebook: 

  1. First, locate the Power and Refresh button on your Chromebook
  2. Now, press and hold them simultaneously until your device turns off and on again. 
  3. Release the Power and Refresh button afterward and wait for your Chromebook to initialize. 

Once done, try using the camera again to check if the problem is solved.
