TL;DR No. You will have to resubscribe to Apple Arcade to continue playing the games that were downloaded while you had Apple Arcade.

Apple Arcade is a fantastic service where for just $4.99, it includes a library of over 100 unique and exclusive games. Apple provides a one month free trial for each new user with Apple ID to try out.

However, one of the most-asked questions we’ve received over the past few weeks has been whether it is possible to keep the games you’ve played with after the Apple Arcade free trial ends.

So does Apple allow you to keep the games after the one-month Apple Arcade free trial?

Here’s the answer …

Can You Keep Games After Apple Arcade Free Trial Ends? Here’s The Answer.

Nope. You cannot keep games after the Apple Arcade free trial ends.

Apple clearly states in their Apple Arcade page under Learn more.

To quote:

“Apple Arcade is a subscription that you can view or cancel at any time. If you cancel, you’ll have to resubscribe to continue playing the games that you downloaded while you had Apple Arcade.”

This works surprisingly similar to how PlayStation Network works where the free games which you get from PSN are unplayable unless if you subscribe to the service.

Usually, it is common to cancel a free trial and expect it to run down until the 30 days is up but in the case of Apple their policy of shutting down the service after a free trial is congruent across their entire lineup of services such as Apple Music, Apple News+ and Apple TV+.

It is a form of marketing tactic that intends to entice the customer into subscribing to the service. Now that is not really a bad thing, but if you’re the customer, then it can be displeasing.

Although, in the case of Apple Arcade, it also makes sense since the developers earn their money by way of royalties which is based on playtime so Apple would need to cut down the operating costs by establishing a strict trial policy.

So be wary. If you’re cancelling your Apple Arcade, then the games will also be inaccessible regardless if you downloaded them for offline play.

Side Note: Do Not Cancel Your Apple Arcade Free Trial Until The Last Second! Here’s Why.

As aforementioned above, you lose access to Apple Arcade instantly the second you cancel your free trial. Reddit user alex_je_alex pinpointed the fine print in the Edit Subscription Page for Apple Arcade, wherein little text Apple does state the condition – which clearly states that your Apple Arcade subscription service ends immediately if you cancel your trial.

To get the most out of your Apple Arcade free trial, set up a reminder for 30 days from the day you started the trial then cancel when that reminder goes off. Say if you start on October 17th 2019, then set the reminder for November 17th 2019.

This will help get the most out of your free trial.
