Cannot Post Tweet on Twitter? Here’s the Fix!

Want to share your thoughts online, but you cannot post tweets on Twitter?

One of the best things about Twitter is that you can share random thoughts and feelings on your timeline. With this, friends and loved ones can stay in touch with you, especially with the current situation on COVID-19

However, if suddenly, you cannot post tweets on Twitter, keep reading.

Most of the time, faulty servers or unstable network connections are the reason why your posts and uploads won’t push through. Since Twitter is an online platform, having a stable connection with its servers is critical.

Since catching up with your loved ones is very important, we’ve decided to make a simple guide on what to do if you cannot post tweets on Twitter.

To start, check their servers’ status first as Twitter could be experiencing technical issues on their end. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do if their servers are having severe problems is to wait.

On the other hand, you can proceed to the suggested methods below if Twitter’s servers are working fine.

Let’s get started!

1. Check If Your Account Is Banned or Blocked.

To keep its platform safe for everyone, Twitter implements strict guidelines for all its users. If you’ve violated these rules, your account can get banned or blocked. This means that you won’t be able to post, share, or even reply to Tweets.

If you suspect your account is banned, proceed to the last method to contact Twitter’s support.

2. Can’t Post Links? Check Twitter’s Unsafe Link Page.

To prevent phishing and malware attacks, Twitter checks every link you share on your Timeline to keep their platform safe. If you have issues posting links on your timeline, visit Twitter’s unsafe link page. The link you want to share may be malicious or dangerous.

On the other hand, if you have problems uploading images on Twitter, please check our guide regarding the issue to help you out.

3. Check Twitter Limit.

If you use your account to promote your brand or products, you may have reached your daily limit. Twitter only allows each account to post 2400 tweets per day. However, this still depends on the interval of your tweets.

Usually, Twitter will notify you with an error message once you reach the limit, but you might have overlooked it.

Check Twitter’s dedicated page about this to learn more.

4. Turn Off VPN.

VPNs are third-party applications that keep your network connection safe and secured. It works by masking your real IP address with a dummy one from their servers. However, random changes on your IP address could make it hard for your device to maintain a steady connection with Twitter’s servers.

If you cannot post tweets on Twitter, try to turn off your VPN first and see if the problem goes away.

5. Check for Updates.

The version of Twitter on your device could potentially have a bug or glitch related to uploading posts. If this is the case, Twitter might release a patch anytime to address the problem.

On Android, you can check for an update by doing the following:

  1. First, unlock your device and open the Play Store from the home screen.
  2. After that, open the side menu and tap on My Apps & Games
  3. Finally, tap the Update button next to Twitter if there is a new version available.

For iOS users, see the steps below to guide you on the process.

  1. On your device, go to the home screen and open the App Store
  2. Now, tap on the Updates tab from the navigation bar.
  3. If there’s a new version available, tap on the Update button beside Twitter to install it.

After the update, go back to your account and try to tweet again.

6. Clear Your Web and Media Storage (iOS Device Only).

Web and media storage contains cached files, which are used to enhance the performance of Twitter. However, these cached files could’ve gotten corrupted during an update or while in use.

If you experience unusual behaviors from Twitter on your iOS device, try to clear your web and media storage.

  1. First, open the Twitter app from your home screen.
  2. After that, open the side drawer and tap on Settings and Privacy
  3. Now, locate the General tab and tap on Data Usage.
  4. Inside Data Usage, tap on Media Storage or Web Storage
  5. Finally, tap on Clear Media or Web Storage. Repeat the steps above to clear both web and media storage.

Once done, go back to your timeline and try to post something.

7. Clear Your Browsing Data.

Besides your browsing history, your browser also stores cached files and cookies to improve its performance when loading websites. However, cached files and cookies accumulate and can get corrupted anytime.

If you encounter problems on various websites, try to clear your browsing data.

  1. First, open your browser and press CTRL + H keys on your keyboard to open the History tab.
  2. Inside your browsing history, click on Clear Browsing Data
  3. After that, change the Time Range to All Time
  4. Finally, make sure that cookies and cached files are included in the process before pressing the Clear Data button.

9. Check and Reset Your Internet.

If your network is running slow, expect that Twitter would not function correctly on your device. Being an online app, Twitter needs a stable network connection to perform tasks like posting a tweet, liking a post, and watching videos.

Try to run a speed test on your network using Fast.com to measure its current speed.

If the result shows that your connection is running slow, try to restart your router to re-establish your service provider’s connection. Find your router’s power cable and unplug it from the outlet. Now, wait for about 10 seconds before plugging it back to the outlet.
