How to Fix Can’t Connect Spotify to Bumble Account

You create your new Bumble account, set it up and everything, but when you try to connect your Spotify account, you find that it can’t connect.

Sound familiar?

We received reports from readers that this was an ongoing issue that has not been addressed anywhere online and we like to take it up and help you. 🙂

This guide is for you if you’re looking for a fix to getting Spotify connected with your Bumble account, and by the end of this post, you should be able to select your favorite artists and choose your favorite songs for others to see.

We will guide you by the hand with each solution below step-by-step so that you can also understand the premise behind why we are doing such a solution.

Let’s dive right in.

1. Log Out of Your Bumble Account.

The very first thing that you can try is to log out of your Bumble account and then logging back in.

This is effective as it fixes the syncing issue with Spotify when you try to sign back into your account.

Note ⚠️

Now before you proceed to do this, make sure that you force-close the Spotify app from running in the background. Here are the steps to force-close background running apps on iOS and on Android.

Here’s how you log out and log back into your Bumble account:

  1. Open the Bumble app on your iOS or Android device
  2. Next, tap on the User Profile tab.
  3. Now tap on the setting gear icon located on the top-left corner to access your Bumble profile settings.
  4. Lastly, scroll a little down the page and tap on the Log out button.

Once you’ve logged out, log back in and try to edit your profile once again to connect your Spotify.

2. Reinstall the Spotify App.

If logging out and back into your Bumble account did not work, then the next solution would be to address the Spotify app itself.

By deleting the Spotify app and reinstalling it, you can effectively patch up any issues with the app or your Spotify account. When you do delete and reinstall Spotify, you will be prompted to sign back into your account which also provides an added effectiveness of fixing the issue.

This solution can be a little tedious, but we’ve personally found this method to be one of the most effective solutions along with Method 4 (which what worked for us).

If you do not know how to delete an app on your iOS or Android device, the below steps should guide you to doing that:

If you’re on an iPhone or iPad

  1. To delete an app on an iPhone and iPad, simply long-press on the Spotify app until you see a list of options appear.
  2. Then tap on the Delete App.
  3. Lastly, head back into your App Store, search for “Spotify” and reinstall the app.

If you’re on Android devices

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap Menu (three-line icon) and then select My apps & games.
  3. Tap on Spotify from the list of apps/games.
  4. Lastly, hit Uninstall. You can reinstall the Instagram app by heading back into the Google Play Store, search for “Spotify” and reinstall the app.

Once you’ve reinstalled the Spotify app, sign back into your account and see if you’re able to connect with the Spotify account using your Bumble account.

3. Switch Off-On Date Mode.

This is a clever solution that was shared with us by a reader named Natalie (credit).

Contrary to the above solutions, this is a method that doesn’t require much effort as you only need to go into your Bumble profile settings and toggle the switch.

Let’s figure out how to locate this switch and adjust it, step-by-step:

  1. Before you go ahead with the steps below, make sure you force-close the Spotify app from running in the background. We’ve talked about this above.
  2. Open the Bumble app on your iOS or Android device
  3. Next, tap on the User Profile tab.
  4. Now tap on the setting gear icon located on the top-left corner to access your Bumble profile settings.
  5. Scroll down the page and you should see the Date mode option. Simply toggle off the switch right next to it to turn it off (grey switch means it’s is off)

  1. Lastly, turn it back on and then test to see if you’re able to connect Spotify properly with your Bumble account.

4. Delete Bumble Account and Register Again.

The solution that had worked for us (which was also the most tedious out of all) was to delete the Bumble account and recreate it again.

This helped because one of the reasons why you may be unable to sync Spotify with your Bumble account could be because of incorrect profile preferences or settings.

It could also be a server-side issue with your account which occurs even after you’ve accepted the permissions over on the Spotify page. Hence, why you’d click the green ‘Accept’ button over on Spotify but it still won’t be reflected on the Bumble app as being ‘Connected’.

The process of deleting your Bumble account is straightforward and we will show you how, step-by-step:

  5. Scroll down the page and you should see the Delete account option. Tap on Delete account
  6. You will be prompted with a message “Please select a reason for deleting your account” for which you just need to select any reason you want. We will select Other (for the purposes of this guide).
