Want to know how you can fix ChatGPT infinite login loop issue?
Despite OpenAI’s efforts, they simply cannot keep up with the volume of users visiting and using ChatGPT. As a result, various server-related errors occur on the platform, preventing users from accessing the service.
If you are here, we can assume that you’ve encountered ChatGPT’s infinite login loop issue.
Most of the time, this issue goes away by itself when the number of users using the platform decreases. However, it can also be related to your account, your browser’s configurations, or your browsing data.
To help you out, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing ChatGPT infinite login loop problem.
1. Check the Servers.
As we have mentioned, server-related problems are the common cause of the infinite login loop on ChatGPT. Usually, ChatGPT’s servers get overwhelmed and crash, preventing you from logging into the service.
To confirm this, you can visit OpenAI’s status page and see if there are reported issues with ChatGPT.
If the servers are down, all you have to do is wait for OpenAI’s team to resolve the issue. On the other hand, you can proceed to the next solution if there’s nothing wrong with the servers.
2. Open A New Tab.
One of the quickest solutions we’ve tried to solve this issue on ChatGPT is to open a new tab on your browser. As it turns out, the infinite login loop error could be a minor issue, and accessing the platform using another tab should do the trick.
Click the ‘+’ icon on your browser to open a new tab and see if you can access your ChatGPT account from there.
3. Restart Your Computer.
You can also try restarting your computer if you encounter issues while using ChatGPT. This should reload your resources and ensure that there are no problems with your network or system.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start Menu.
- Access the Power Options tab.
- Choose Restart.
- Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your screen.
- Now, click on Restart from the drop-down menu.
- Confirm your action by clicking Restart on the dialog box.
Go back to ChatGPT and see if you can access your account.
4. Log Out Your Account on Other Devices.
As it turns out, you won’t be able to access your ChatGPT account if it’s still logged in on another device. While we can’t find any explanation why you can’t use your account on multiple devices, you need to log out your account on your other device first.
Once done, you should now be able to log in to ChatGPT and use the chatbot.
5. Check the URL.
There might be a problem with ChatGPT’s login authenticator, causing the infinite login loop. Fortunately, we’ve found a workaround that temporarily solves the issue on the platform.
If you can’t log in to your account, check the URL and see if there’s any line that contains ‘error=OAuthCallback’. Remove it from the URL box, refresh ChatGPT, and you should be able to log in to your account.
6. Clear Browsing Data.
Corrupted browsing data and cookies could also be the reason you encounter the infinite login loop on ChatGPT. To rule this out, clear your browsing data to ensure there are no broken or corrupted data on your computer.
Here’s what you need to do:
- First, open your browser and go to Settings.
- Now, look for Privacy and Security.
- Click on Clear Browsing Data.
- Change the Time Range to All Time.
- Lastly, include caches and cookies in the process. Hit Clear Data to start.
Once done, try logging in to your ChatGPT account to check if the problem is solved.
7. Login With Email & Password.
ChatGPT allows users to log in to their accounts using Google or Microsoft. However, there might be an issue with this option that prevents ChatGPT from authenticating your account information.
Try entering your email address and password manually to see if the same login loop issue will occur.
Head to the next solution if you still encounter the login loop.
8. Check Your Connection.
Slow or unstable connections could also be the reason you can’t log in to your ChatGPT account. To rule this out, perform a test on your network using Fast.com to measure its current bandwidth.
If your network is performing slow, try restarting your browser to refresh the connection with your provider. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for 5-10 seconds before plugging it back in.
Re-run the test afterward to check if the problem is solved. Report the problem to your provider if you continue to encounter issues with your connection.
9. Contact ChatGPT.
At this point, the last thing you can do is report the issue to ChatGPT’s team. Head to their support page and submit a ticket to ask for assistance in accessing your account. Provide your account details and the last time you were able to access it.
This should help their team understand the situation better and come up with the best possible solution as soon as possible.
You can also browse the guides on their page and see if you can find other solutions not mentioned above.
