How to Fix Computer Won’t Wake Up From Sleep on Windows 11

Want to know why your computer won’t wake up from sleep on Windows 11?

If you’re someone who uses their computer several times a day, it’s best to put your PC on Sleep mode instead of shutting it down every time. This proves to be an effective option as all your data is stored in RAM and quickly processed once you turn on the computer. Moreover, the rebooting process will be less time-consuming and energy-efficient.

However, putting your PC in Sleep mode can also turn out to be a huge risk if you have outdated mouse and keyboard drivers. This can lead to your computer not waking up from sleep. Other reasons that may cause this include inappropriate power settings, a fast rebooting system, outdated windows, etc.

But with the quick fixes we’ve mentioned below, you won’t have to worry about your computer’s inability to wake up from sleep mode. In this article, you’ll find some of the most practical methods to fix this issue.

So, let’s begin!

1. Perform A Hard Reboot.

Whenever the operating system is unresponsive or frozen, the very first thing that you need to do is do a hard reboot on your computer. Unlike a regular reboot that uses the operating system controls to restart your computer, a hard reboot manually forces the system to restart. This will refresh your computer’s OS without affecting your personal data.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Press and hold the Power button on your PC for several seconds, preferably 10 seconds.

Windows comes with an in-build Troubleshoot feature which detects and fixes various common issues in your computer. If your computer doesn’t wake up from sleep on Windows 11 due to a power plan issue, using the power troubleshooter can resolve this problem.

Simply follow the steps given below:

  1. Start by going to the Settings app by pressing Win + i keys on your keyboard.

3. Change Power Plan Settings.

The power plan setting is the main culprit behind your computer not waking up from sleep. So, if a hard reboot has started your PC, you may want to change the power plan settings to prevent this issue from occurring again.

If you have enabled the maximum power saving mode on and put your computer to sleep, it may be what’s causing it not to wake up. The Hybrid sleep option may also result in a similar problem. To turn both of these settings off, simply follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Run dialog box by pressing Win + R keys simultaneously.
  2. Next, type in ‘powercfg.cpl’ in the search bar and select OK to continue.
