How to Fix Discord Account Keeps Logging Out on Windows

Can’t figure out why your Discord account keeps logging out on Windows?

Discord is a popular instant messaging service with millions of users worldwide. The app was originally made for gamers for real-time communication, but many businesses and organizations use Discord due to its reliability.

While the app works excellent most of the time, it can still run into issues from time to time.

One of the most common problems on Discord is that your account keeps logging out on the dedicated Windows app.

Based on what we know, this issue is usually caused by server-related problems. However, it can also be due to third-party applications, corrupted DNS cache, or improper network configurations.

If you’re experiencing this right now, keep reading.

Today, we’ll show you how to fix your Discord account if it keeps logging out on the Windows app.

Let’s get started!

1. Check Discord Servers.

One of the first things you can do when encountering Discord issues is to check the platform’s status. You can do this by visiting their dedicated status page, where you can view the current situation of their servers.

If there’s an issue with the servers, the only thing you can do is wait since server-related problems can’t be addressed on your end.

On the other hand, you can head to the next solution below if the servers are working fine.

2. Change Your Login Credentials.

For unknown reasons, many Discord users were able to fix this issue by changing their account passwords. A bug or glitch may have occurred on your account, causing your data to corrupt, which explains the issue.

Here’s how you can change your account password on Discord:

  1. First, launch Discord and access your account.
  2. After that, go to the Settings and open the My Account tab.
  3. Lastly, click on Change Password and follow the prompts.

Once done, restart Discord and see if your account will get logged out.

3. Flush Your DNS.

Your DNS cache may have gotten corrupted, which causes your account to log out of the Discord app. To fix this, go to the command prompt and flush your DNS.

Check out the steps below to guide you on the process:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows + X keys to open the Quick Menu
  2. Next, click on Command Prompt (Admin)
  3. Finally, type ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ and hit the Enter key to run the command.

Restart your system afterward and check if the problem is solved.

4. Change Your DNS Server.

If flushing your DNS did not work, we suggest that you use a different DNS server on your computer. Your ISP’s default DNS could be experiencing temporary issues at the moment, which causes connectivity problems on Discord.

Follow the steps below to change your DNS on Windows:

  1. First, open the Start Menu and look for ‘View Network Connections’.
  2. After that, right-click on your current network and choose Properties
  3. Now, double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4
  4. Enable the ‘Use the Following DNS Server Addresses’ and input the following:
  • Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
  • Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
  1. Once done, save the changes and restart your system.

See the guide below to update Windows:

  1. First, press the Windows + I keys on your keyboard to open Windows Settings
  2. After that, go to Update & Security and access the Windows Update tab.
  3. Lastly, click on Check for Update and follow the prompts to continue.
