How to Fix Discord Installation Failed

Keep running into a Discord installation failed message when downloading the app on your Windows computer?

Discord is an all around communication platform that offers voice, video, and text chat services. It uses voice over internet protocol and is mostly utilized by gamers and online community groups.

The platform supports various operating systems including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

If you’re new to gaming, you are probably looking into downloading the dedicated desktop app for PC. Unfortunately, you’re stopped by an installation failed error message.

Usually, this problem on Discord is usually caused by corrupted installers. However, it can also be due to lack of system permissions, third-party antivirus, slow network connections, or improper device configurations.

To help our fellow gamers, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing the Discord installation failed issue on Windows.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Check Discord Servers.

When you encounter installation issues on Discord, the first thing you should check is the platform’s status. This way, you can identify right away whether the problem is coming from your computer or Discord’s end.

Fortunately, Discord has a dedicated status page, where they give constant updates about the platform.

Discord Status

If there’s an ongoing issue with Discord, the best thing to do is wait for their team to address the problem before installing the app. On the other hand, you can proceed to the next method below if Discord’s servers are working fine.

5. Check Your Network Connection.

Before downloading the installer on your computer, it’s important to have a stable connection to ensure that you’ve downloaded the Discord’s complete installation package. To check the quality of your connection, run a test using Fast.com

Speed Test

If the result indicates an issue with your network, reboot your router or modem to re-establish the connection with your ISP. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for at least five seconds before reconnecting it.

Restart Router

Once done, perform another test to check if the problem is solved. Report the issue to your ISP if your network continues to run slow and ask them to fix their service.

6. Contact Discord.

At this point, the only thing left to do is ask for assistance from the experts.

Go to Discord’s Support page and contact their team to report the issue you’ve been experiencing while installing the dedicated Discord app for Windows. In the meantime, use the web version of the platform until Discord provides a solution for your concern.
