Disney Plus Not Working on PC? Here’s the Fix!

Want to watch your favorite Disney Plus shows, but it is not working on your PC?

In terms of availability, the Disney Plus app supports many devices, including the Windows platform. Given the number of people owning a PC, Disney Plus made an excellent choice in developing a dedicated app for Windows.

Unfortunately, if you are reading this right now, Disney Plus is probably not working on your PC. Well, this is a common issue on the platform, and troubleshooting should be straightforward.

Based on what we know, faulty servers and corrupted fails are the primary culprits for this issue on Disney Plus. However, other factors should also be considered when addressing the problem on your computer.

To save you some time, we decided to make a guide for fixing the Disney Plus app if it is not working on your PC.

So, without further delays, let’s get started!

1. Check Disney Plus Servers.

On all of our guides, we always recommend users check the status of Disney Plus first before making any changes to their device and account. Doing this allows you to identify the best possible course to address the problem on Disney Plus.

To check Disney Plus servers, you can use third-party websites like Downdetector, where you can view the status of Disney Plus and the past issues it encountered.

Disney Plus Server Status

If their servers are down, we recommend that you just wait for Disney to address the problem. However, you can still do the rest of the methods below to alleviate the situation if you need to use the app.

2. Watch Another Show.

If Disney Plus stops working when watching a movie or TV show, the issue could be related to the show you are trying to watch. Some titles on Disney Plus may experience temporary problems and become unplayable for a while.

To verify if the issue is isolated to a specific movie, go to the media library and play a random show.

If other titles on the platform play without issues, proceed to the last method below to inform Disney’s team.

3. Lower the Stream Quality.

Your internet connection may be struggling to meet the requirements of Disney Plus when playing a movie or TV show. If movies on Disney Plus keep on stopping, try to lower the stream quality on your account to reduce your network’s load.

Follow the steps below to change the playback quality on Disney Plus:

  1. First, open Disney Plus on your computer and hover the cursor to your Avatar
  2. After that, click on App Settings
  3. Lastly, change Data Usage to Moderate or Save Data

Once done, go back to Disney Plus and check if the app is now working.

4. Re-Login to Your Disney Plus Account.

Temporary bugs and glitches may have occurred on your account that causes the Disney Plus app to malfunction. To fix this, sign out of your current session and log back in after several minutes to refresh your account’s data.

Follow the guide below to re-login to your Disney Plus account on Windows:

  1. First, open the Disney Plus app on your desktop.
  2. After that, point the mouse cursor to your Avatar to access the drop-down menu.
  3. Lastly, click on Log Out

Wait for 2 to 3 minutes before logging back into your Disney Plus account. Now, try using the app again to check if the problem is solved.

5. Check and Reset Your Internet.

A slow internet connection could also be why Disney Plus is not working on your PC. The platform has a minimum bandwidth requirement of 5 Mbps to stream movies and TV shows without issues.

If the Disney Plus app is not working on your PC, run a speed test on your network using Fast.com to measure its current bandwidth.

Speed Test

Restart your router if the result indicates that your network is the problem. Unplug your router from the wall outlet and let it rest for 5 to 10 seconds. After that, plug back in your router to restart it.

Restart Router

Re-run the test on your network to check if your connection is now running correctly. Contact your service provider if you continue to experience network-related problems.

6. Turn Off VPN.

Virtual private networks are third-party tools that provide security over your network. They change your IP address randomly to keep your identity private and filter sensitive data to prevent hackers from obtaining them.

Unfortunately, not all VPNs work that well and could interfere with your connection. This makes it difficult for your device to send your requests to Disney Plus, explaining the problem.

If you have a VPN, turn it off before accessing Disney Plus.

On the other hand, consider using other VPNs like PureVPN if you continue to experience problems on your current one. PureVPN keeps your network connection stable while protecting your online data.

Besides,  it also works well with streaming services like Disney Plus, Netflix, and HBO Max.

7. Clear Your Browser Cache and Cookies.

If you are using a browser to access Disney Plus, some cached files and cookies may have gotten corrupted on your browser. These are data used by your browser to load websites and enhance their overall performance.

Follow the steps below to clear your browsing data if Disney Plus is not working on your browser:

  1. First, launch your preferred browser and press the CTRL + H keys on your keyboard to access the History tab.
  2. Now, click on Clear Browsing Data from the side menu, which should take you to another page.
  3. After that, include caches and cookies in the process and change the Time Range to All Time
  4. Finally, click on Clear Data to start the process.

Once done, go back to Disney Plus and check if the website is now working correctly on your PC.

8. Run Malwarebytes.

Do you experience performance issues on your computer besides the Disney Plus app not working?

Your system might be infected by malware or other viruses. These are malicious programs or files that consume your computer’s resources and network bandwidth that can negatively affect applications and other programs.

To verify this, download Malwarebytes on your computer and use its full system scan feature. This will allow the tool to search your entire directory for viruses and remove them automatically in the process.

Go back to Disney Plus afterwards to check if the app is now working correctly.

9. Update Disney Plus.

Like any other application, Disney Plus needs occasional updates to keep it running smoothly on your device and to fix any errors that may have occurred. If you haven’t updated the app on your computer, try to check if there’s a newer version available.

Follow the step-by-step guide below to update Disney Plus:

  1. First, open the Microsoft Store on your Windows computer.
