Is Disney+ Down? Server Status and How to Fix

Are you wondering if Disney Plus servers are down due to random errors on the app?

Ever since Disney Plus was released, users have been reporting tons of error codes and messages on the platform for unknown reasons. While Disney’s team is doing their best to address these issues, occasional problems still occur on their app and website.

Although bugs and glitches are inevitable on any platform, this is not what you’d expect for a subscription-based service like Disney Plus.

Based on what we know, errors on Disney Plus are usually caused by a problem with their servers. However, it is also possible that the app you are using is outdated or corrupted, your device has an underlying issue that needs to be addressed, or your network connection is running slow.

Given the number of factors to look into, troubleshooting this problem may take some time, especially if you don’t know what you are doing.

Thankfully, you’ve come to the right place. 😀

In this guide, we’re going to show you how to check if Disney Plus servers are down and what you should do to fix it.

Let’s jump right in!

1. Check Disney Plus Servers.

Whenever you encounter errors and other issues on Disney Plus, the first thing you should always do is check the status of its servers.

To do this, you can use third-party tools such as Downdetector. It is a website that gives updates regarding the status of other websites and applications. If the servers are down, any changes on your end won’t help fix the problem with Disney Plus’ servers.

However, you can still do the following methods below to alleviate the situation until Disney’s team gets everything sorted out.

2. Try Watching Another Show.

If you can’t watch your favorite shows on Disney Plus, this doesn’t mean that all the titles on Disney are unavailable. Certain movies and TV shows could just be affected by the problem with the servers, and other titles should be available.

To confirm this, go back to the media library and try playing a random show.

If other titles on Disney Plus are playing without issues, proceed to the last method to report the problem.

3. Check If Your Device Is Supported.

If you are having problems accessing Disney Plus, you may be using an incompatible device. Although the Disney Plus app is available on all major operating systems, it doesn’t mean that every model running that system is supported.

Visit Disney Plus’ Help Center and check if the platform supports your current device. If not, consider getting a compatible unit or access Disney Plus using a web browser.

4. Re-Login to Your Account.

Your account data may have gotten corrupted when the servers went down, explaining the issues you’ve encountered on the app.

To fix this, log out of your current session and sign in afterward to reload your account data.

On Android and iOS devices, you can log out of your Disney Plus account by doing the following:

  1. First, open the Disney Plus account from your device’s home screen.
  2. After that, access your profile by tapping on your Avatar on the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Lastly, tap the Log Out button at the bottom of the page.

If you are using a web browser or other devices, check out the steps below to log out your account:

  1. On your browser, access the Disney Plus website.
  2. Now, point the mouse cursor to your Avatar and click on the Account tab.
  3. Finally, click on Log Out of All Devices to sign out your account on every device you are using.

Once done, go back to Disney’s log-in page and input your account credentials. Try using the platform for several minutes to check if you would still encounter any errors.

5. Check and Reset Your Internet.

Network-related issues could also be the reason behind the errors on Disney Plus. The platform requires a minimum internet speed of 5 Mbps to play HD videos without issues. If you are going to watch 4K UHD content, you need to have at least 25 Mbps internet bandwidth.

To check if your network is the culprit, run a test using Fast.com to measure its current upload and download speed.

Speed Test

If the result shows that your connection is running slow, restart your router to refresh the link with your internet service provider’s servers.

Restart Router

Run another test after restarting your router to confirm if the problem is solved. On the other hand, contact your ISP and report the matter if you continue to experience issues with your network.

You can also arrange for an upgrade if your current subscription doesn’t meet the minimum speed required by Disney Plus.

6. Clear Your Browser Cache and Cookies.

Your browser saves temporary data on your device’s storage, which are called caches and cookies. These data are used to load websites faster and improve your browser’s overall performance.

However, as you continue to use your browser, its caches and cookies accumulate as well and could get corrupted without any warnings. If this happens, expect errors and other issues to occur on the websites you visit.

Follow the steps below to clear your browsing data and eliminate corrupted files in the process:

  1. First, open your preferred browser and access its Settings tab.
  2. After that, go to Privacy and Security and click on Clear Browsing Data
  3. Now, click on the Time Range tab and select All Time from the drop-down list.
  4. Click on the checkbox beside ‘Cached Images and Files’ and ‘Cookies and Other Site Data’ to include them in the process.
  5. Lastly, click the Clear Data button to initiate the clearing process.

Once done, go back to Disney Plus and check if the problem is solved.

7. Disable Your Browser Extensions or Try Another Browser.

If Disney Plus’s servers are down, the last thing you want is third-party tools interfering with its normal flow. In this case, turn off any browser extension you have before accessing the Disney Plus website.

Check out the guide below to turn off your browser extensions:

  1. On your web browser, click on the Options button at the top right corner of your display and open the Settings
  2. After that, click on the Extensions tab located on the side menu.
  3. Finally, turn off all your browser extensions.

Once done, access the Disney Plus website and check if you would experience any issues.

You can also try using a different browser if your current one is having difficulties loading the Disney Plus website.

8. Run Malwarebytes.

Malware and other viruses could also be the reason for the random errors you experience on Disney Plus. Since viruses consume your device’s resources, other applications may struggle to function normally.

To check if your device is infected, download Malwarebytes and run the full system scan tool. This will prompt Malwarebytes to scan your entire directory for viruses and automatically remove them in the process.

9. Update the Disney Plus App.

Disney releases timely updates on its application to ensure that it is running correctly on every device and errors are getting patched. If you experience any issues with the Disney Plus app, try to check if there are any available updates.
