1. Re-Login to Your Account.

This way, your account data would be refreshed, and a proper connection between your browser and Canva’s servers can be re-established.
- First, click on your Profile Picture at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Now, click on the Sign Out button.
- Finally, enter your account’s credentials once again and hit the Login button.
Once you are back on your account, go to the project that you want to download and try again to see if the problem is already fixed.
2. Turn Off VPN.
If you are using a VPN service for security, consider turning it off. While VPN services are excellent for security, it can sometimes interfere with the connection between Canva and your browser.

This means that a certain website like Canva.com may work normally on one browser but encounter a lot of problems on other browsers that are not optimized.
If Canva is not working as it should on your default browser, try to use another one. Consider using popular browsers like Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, which are highly optimized by most web developers.
4. Check Your Internet Connection.
Since Canva is a web-based application, it requires a stable internet connection for it to work properly. If you can’t download your files on Canva, it could indicate that your internet connection is running slow or unstable.
To verify this, you can run a simple speed test using third-party sites like Fast.com. It is a website that is built to measure your network’s upload and download speed.
If your network is indeed slow or unstable, try to restart your router to re-establish a proper connection with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). You can do this by simply unplugging your router’s power cable from the wall outlet. Now, wait for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging back in the power cable.
After your router has restarted, perform another speed test, and see if the problem is already fixed. However, if your network problem continues, contact your ISP right away and let them know about the problem with their service.
5. Make Another Copy and Download.
As we create our projects on Canva, we tweak and configure some of its settings to our preferences. Possibly, some changes you’ve made on your current project caused the problem with downloads not working on Canva.
To fix this, simply make a new copy of the project and try to download that one.
- First, open your account on your browser and click on ‘All Your Designs’ from the side menu.
- Now, hover your cursor to the design you want to download and click on the Options button.
- After that, click on Make A Copy.
- Finally, hover your cursor to the generated copy and click the Options button again. Click on Download and follow the on-screen prompts to continue with the process.
Check if you can download your project after copying the file.

6. Choose A Different File Type and Download.
If you cannot download a specific file type on Canva like JPEG, try changing the file type to PNG or GIF to see if you can download it.
- On your Canva account, click on ‘All Your Designs’ from the side menu.
- After that, select the file you wish to download.
- Now, click on the Download button on the top-right corner of your screen.
- Finally, choose another format from the drop-down list and hit the Download button.
Wait and see if you are able to download your project in another format.
7. Clear Your Browsing Cache and Cookies.
Temporary data called cache and cookies are stored on your computer, which is used by your browser to speed up its performance. While these data are great for loading up websites faster, it can accumulate over time and encounter errors which can cause your browser to malfunction.
Thankfully, this can be quickly resolved by simply clearing your browser’s data.
- On your browser, press CTRL + H on your keyboard to open the History tab.
- After that, click on Clear Browsing Data.
- Now, ensure that ‘Cookies and Other Site Data’ and ‘Cached Images and Files’ are marked checked.
- Finally, select ‘All Time’ from the Time Range tab and hit the Clear Data button.
This should take a couple of seconds, depending on your browser. Once done, go back to Canva and try to download your project again to see if the issue is already fixed.
8. Disable Browser Extensions.
If you are using browser extensions like download managers, consider disabling it when using Canva. While download managers are great for keeping your files in order, it can sometimes interfere with websites that have a built-in download tool.
To disable your browser extensions, follow the steps below:
- First, press ALT + E on your keyboard, followed by the S key to open Settings on your browser.
- Inside the Settings, click on Extensions from the side menu.
- Finally, disable any download manager extension that you are using.
Give your browser a restart afterward. Now, go back to Canva and try to download your project again to see if the problem is already resolved.
