Looking for a way to fix error 502 on Google Meet?

One of the most common issues you’ll face on Google Meet is error 502. This issue is encountered when a Windows user attempt to initiate Google Meet. This status code means that Google’s servers received an invalid response from the server sending the information.
While this issue can be resolved with a simple browser refresh, some users encounter the problem multiple times.

1. Restart Your PC.
Before tweaking anything on your computer, we recommend restarting your system first. This should ensure that the error 502 on Google Meet is not caused by a temporary bug or glitch that occurred during runtime.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Access the Start Menu on your Taskbar.
- Next, open the Power Options tab.
- Finally, click on Restart to reboot your system.
Go back to Google Meet afterward to check if the problem is solved.
2. Check Google Meet Servers.
As we’ve mentioned, error 502 on Google Meet is usually caused by server-related issues. If this is the case, we suggest checking the platform’s status to ensure that the problem is not server-related.
To do this, you can visit Google’s status page to see if there are reported outages with the servers.
If there are ongoing problems with the servers, the best thing to do is wait. Unfortunately, server-related problems can’t be resolved on your end. On the other hand, you can head to the next solution if there’s nothing wrong with the servers.
3. Check Your Network Connection.
Slow or unstable internet could also trigger the error 502 on Google Meet. Since you are using an online service, you’ll need a stable connection to enjoy its services and features.
To check if your network is the problem, perform a speed test using Fast.com to measure your network’s upload and download bandwidth.
If the result indicates a problem with your connection, we recommend power cycling your device to refresh the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router’s power cable from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging it back in.
Once done, perform another test on your network to check if the problem is solved. If not, contact your provider and ask them to fix the issue.
4. Change Your DNS.
For some users, they were able to resolve error 502 by changing their domain name server to Google. If you’re still experiencing this issue on Google Meet, we suggest changing your DNS as well.
Here’s what you need to do:
- On the right corner of your Taskbar, right-click on the Network icon and choose Open Network & Internet Settings.
- After that, go to Change Adapter Options.
- Right-click on your network and choose Properties.
- Inside Properties, double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4.
- Now, select the ‘Use the Following DNS Server Addresses’ and input the following values:
- Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
Apply the changes and restart your system. Try using Google Meet afterward to check if the problem is solved.
5. Clear Your Browsing Data.
Another reason for this error is if your browsing data got corrupted due to a random system issue. To rule this out, we recommend clearing your data and cookies to ensure everything is in order.

- On your keyboard, press CTRL + H while your browser is open. This will launch the History tab.
- Inside the History tab, click on Clear Browsing Data.
- Now, make sure the ‘Cached Images and Files’ and ‘Cookies and Other Site Data’ is selected.
- Lastly, click on the Clear Data button to start the process.
Go back to Google Meet afterward to confirm if the problem is solved.
6. Disable Browser Extensions.
You can also try disabling your browser extensions if you continue to encounter issues with Google Meet. Some of your extensions may not be compatible with Google Meet, causing the service to malfunction.

- After that, click on the Settings tab.
- Inside Settings, click on the Extensions tab to open it.
- Lastly, turn off all the extensions that you’ve installed.
Restart your browser and try using Google Meet to see if the error 502 is solved.
7. Turn Off VPN.
Virtual private networks are third-party services that protect your network and data from harmful entities online. They work by masking your IP address and filtering your activity to keep sensitive data secured.
However, some VPNs are not optimized and could cause issues with your network and affect its stability.
If you’re experiencing problems with Google Meet, try turning off your VPN.
