Are you seeing a failed to send error on Snapchat?

Snapchat is a social media platform focused on media sharing with your friends and loved ones. The messaging function on Snapchat lets you send timed messages, which your friends can view for a period of time.

However, if you cannot send messages or anything in general on Snapchat, the app’s whole sense disappears.

If you are staring at a failed to send error on Snapchat, keep reading.

Today, we will give you some tips on how to address the failed to send error on Snapchat.

Before anything, try to check Snapchat’s servers first, as the issue could be related to their servers being down.

If this is the case, we can’t do anything about it but wait. However, if their servers are perfectly fine, head down below, and follow the given methods.

Let’s jump right in!

1. Check If You Are Friends With the User.

By default, Snapchat only allows you to send messages and other media forms to users who already added you to their friend list. If you can’t send messages to a specific user, try to verify if the user already accepted your friend request.

Besides, if there is a gray arrow icon that says “Pending…” under the message you sent, it is likely that you are not yet friends with the user.

2. Restart the App.

As we always recommend doing in our guides, try to restart the app if it is not working properly. This way, your device could reload all of its installation files, which could’ve encountered temporary errors during run time.

On Android, you can restart Snapchat using the application switcher. To open it, swipe up from the bottom of your display until it appears. After that, locate Snapchat, and flick it upwards until it is removed from the list.

For iOS devices with an all-screen display, you can restart Snapchat through the app switcher. Swipe upwards from the bottom of your screen to open it. Now, find Snapchat, and drag it upwards to stop it from running. .

Finally, for iOS devices that still houses the Home button, just tap it twice to open the app switcher. Now, find Snapchat, and flick it upwards to stop it from running.

After closing the app, go to your home screen, and relaunch it. Try sending another message to one of your friends to see if the problem is resolved.

3. Turn Off VPN.

If you are using VPN services to provide security on your network, try disabling it. While VPNs work great for security reasons, it can also interfere with the flow of your network.

VPNs randomly alter your IP address, making it difficult for your device to establish a stable connection with website and application servers. Turn off your VPN, and try using Snapchat again.

4. Check for Updates.

Running an outdated version of applications on your device could put your account at risk. Apps that are not updated don’t have the latest security patches, which can expose you to hackers, and other threats.

Besides, it is also possible that the version you are running has an existing bug related to sending messages. Try to update Snapchat to fix this.

On Android, check out the guide below on how to update Snapchat.

  1. First, open Google Play Store on your Android device.
  2. After that, tap on the Menu button located inside the search bar.
  3. Next, tap on My Apps & Games from the side menu.
  4. Finally, if the Play Store detected an update, hit the Update button beside Snapchat to install it.

For iOS devices, you can update Snapchat by doing the following:

  1. On your home screen, find the App Store, and tap it to open the application.
  2. Inside the App Store, look at the bottom navigation bar, and tap on Updates
  3. Finally, hit the Update button beside Snapchat if there is an available update.

5. Clear App Cache.

Snapchat stores temporary data on your device, which is called app cache. This data is used to make the app faster and improve your overall experience. However, app caches can accumulate over time and can be harder to load.

As a result, Snapchat performs slower than usual, and some functions might not work properly. Thankfully, Snapchat included an option on their app to clear these caches in case of errors.

  1. First, tap on the Profile icon on Snapchat.
  2. After that, tap on the Gear icon to open the settings.
  3. Now, scroll down, and tap on Clear Cache.
  4. Finally, tap on Continue (for Android) or Clear All (for iOS) to clear the app cache.

After doing this, go back to the main screen, and send a few messages to your friends.

However, if you still see a failed to send error on Snapchat, head down below, and try the next solution.

6. Reinstall Snapchat.

If clearing the app cache of Snapchat could not fix the issue, try to reinstall the app. Possibly, some of its installation files got badly corrupted, and are no longer fixable.

In this case, the only way to eliminate the error is to install a fresh copy of Snapchat.

On Android, check out the guide below on how to reinstall Snapchat.

  1. First, unlock your device, and go to the home screen.
  2. After that, locate Snapchat from the list of applications.
  3. Tap and hold the app until the selection screen appear.
  4. Finally, tap on Uninstall to remove Snapchat from your device.

If you are using an iOS device, you can reinstall Snapchat by doing the following:

  1. On your home screen, locate Snapchat from the list.
  2. After that, tap and hold the app until the pop-up menu appears on your screen.
  3. Lastly, tap on Remove App, and follow the on-screen prompts to continue with the process.

After removing Snapchat from your device, go back to the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android), and reinstall the app.

7. Check and Reset Your Internet.

A slow internet connection could also be the problem why you cannot send on Snapchat. Since it is an online platform, a stable network is needed for it to function normally.

To verify this, try to run a speed test using Fast.com to measure your network’s current upload and download speed.

If the result shows that your network is running slow, try to restart your router to re-establish the connection with your ISP’s servers. On your router, locate its power cable, and unplug it from the wall outlet. After that, wait for 5 to 10 seconds before you plug it back in,

  1. First, open Snapchat from your home screen.
  2. After that, tap on the Profile icon, and tap the Gear icon to open Snapchat’s settings
