How to Fix Canva Slow

Can’t work properly on your project due to Canva being slow?

Being able to work on your projects on any computer is one of the best things about Canva since it is a web-based application. Other than that, you won’t be affected by storage corruption or failure since most of your files are on their servers.

While there are a lot of benefits to working on the cloud, it requires you to have a stable connection and a decent system to handle workloads on a browser.

Unfortunately, if you are living in an area or region that doesn’t have the best internet connection, you may experience problems using Canva.

If Canva is running slow on your browser, chances are your internet connection is not working properly or other programs on your computer hog your system resources.

However, not having a fast internet connection doesn’t mean you cannot use Canva. Thankfully, there are a few known workarounds that can help you in fixing this issue.

Today, we are going to show you a few methods that are effective in fixing the problem with Canva running slow on your computer.

Let’s get started.

1. Check Their Servers.

Before doing anything on your computer, try to check Canva’s servers first. If their servers are currently experiencing issues, then there is a high chance that their web-based application won’t work properly.

Now, to check if their servers are indeed down, try visiting their official site which displays the current status of the servers. Alternatively, you can also use third-party sites like Downdetector that also gives information regarding Canva’s servers.

Unfortunately, if their servers are indeed down, there is nothing you could do but wait. Since the problem is on their side, troubleshooting methods on your computer won’t do anything.

Be sure to check their site once in a while so that you are informed when their servers are already working properly.

2. Turn Off VPN.

If Canva’s servers are working properly, then we can start tweaking your system. First, try disabling any VPN service if you use one.

While VPNs are a great way to keep your connection private and secure, it alters your computer’s IP address. This can cause instability when connecting to Canva’s servers, which in return slows down the application or makes it unusable.

To avoid this, simply disable your VPN service while using Canva. On the other hand, you can also check our guide regarding the best VPN services that you can use to keep your connection secure and private. These VPNs also work if you want to watch Netflix US outside the region

3. Check the Task Manager.

Web-based applications like Canva usually require a decent amount of system resource, particularly RAM to function properly. Since browsers already use a fair amount of RAM on your system, loading web-based apps would make that number even higher.

To ensure that your computer has enough RAM for Canva, try checking the Task Manager and close unwanted applications.

  1. First, press on Windows key + X on your keyboard to open the Quick Start Menu
  2. After that, click on the Task Manager to open it.

  1. Inside the Task Manager, click on the process tab then click the RAM tab. This will make the applications using the most RAM appear on the top of the list.
  2. Finally, click on the applications that you won’t be needing and hit the End Task button to close it.

Once done, refresh your browser and try to use Canva normally to see if you would experience slowdowns and performance dips.

4. Reset Your Internet.

As we’ve mentioned above, a stable internet connection is required for Canva to function normally. To ensure that your network is running properly, try running a simple speed test.

You can use third-party sites like Fast.com, which effectively measure your network’s upload and download speed.

Now, once the result comes out slow or not close to the indicated internet speed bandwidth on your monthly plan, try to restart your router. To do this, simply locate the power cable of your router and unplug it. After this, wait for 5 to 10 seconds and plug back in the power cable to turn on your router again.

After restarting your router, run another speed test to see if the problem with your network is already resolved. If the problem with your network connection continues, we suggest that you contact your internet service provider right away and let them know about the problem with their internet service.

5. Try A Different Browser.

Internet browsers have their own dedicated engines that are used to interpret the code of a particular website. These engines are reading the code written on websites and renders it to generate the user interface.

In this case, some websites would work properly on a specific browser, but not on another browser. If Canva is running slow on your computer, try changing your browser to see if the problem would still exists.

Try using popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Opera, which are likely to be optimized by web developers.

6. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies.

Browser cache and cookies are temporary files that are stored on your computer, which helps in improving the performance of your browser and the websites you visit. However, over time these caches and cookies can accumulate and get corrupted.

If you are experiencing slow loading times when using Canva, there is a chance that corrupted caches and cookies are the culprits. To rule this out, try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

  1. On your browser, press CTRL + H on your keyboard to open the History tab
  2. After that, click on Clear Browsing Data
  3. Now, ensure that ‘Cookies and Other Site Data’ and ‘Cached Images and Files’ are marked checked.
  4. Finally, select ‘All Time’ from the Time Range tab and hit the Clear Data button

Once you’ve cleared your browser’s data, restart it and try to use Canva normally to see if the problem is already resolved.

However, if you are still having issues with the web-based app, proceed to the next method below to address the problem.

7. Disable Browser Extensions.

If you have browser extensions installed, you might want to disable them when using Canva. While extensions are great for adding functionality on some websites, it can also interfere on some sites, especially if it offers the same features present on the website.

  1. First, press ALT + E on your keyboard, followed by the S key to open Settings on your browser.
  2. Inside the Settings, click on Extensions from the side menu.
  3. Finally, disable any download manager extension that you are using.
