How to Fix Font Size Problems on Adobe Photoshop

Are you dealing with font size problems on Adobe Photoshop?

Adobe Photoshop is a powerful photo editing and image processing software. It has been around for decades and has been the leading tool for professionals, enthusiasts, and even students.

With Photoshop, you can manipulate images, create artworks, enhance existing photos, and do anything you can imagine. While Photoshop is a powerful tool, you’ll run into errors if you don’t know how to utilize them properly.

From document sizes, measurements, and layer management, you’ll have to use them correctly to make your project look more professional.

As Spider-Man stated, “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibilities”.

If you’re here, we can assume that you have difficulty managing font sizes on your projects.

You might notice that they can appear small or big depending on what you’re working on.

Today, we’ll explain to you why this happens and what you should do to fix font size problems on Adobe Photoshop.

Let’s get started!

1. Reset Your Character Options.

If you are reading this, we’ll assume that you’ve already made various changes to make your project’s font look right. To start clean, go ahead and reset your character options first to roll back any changes you’ve made.

To reset your options, click on Windows > Character and press the fly-out menu button at the top right of the Character tab. Choose the Reset Character option to undo the changes.

Once done, you can go ahead and reapply the necessary changes to your project.

2. Update Adobe Photoshop.

Before changing your configurations, try updating Adobe Photoshop first. The version you’re using might have an underlying issue related to fonts, which explains the irregular font size on your projects.

See the steps below to update Adobe Photoshop:

  1. First, open Adobe Photoshop on your computer.
  2. After that, click on Help in the menu bar.
  3. Lastly, choose Updates and follow the prompts.

After the update, restart Adobe Photoshop and check if the problem is solved.

3. Change Your Units Settings.

One of the main reasons for font size problems on Adobe Photoshop is setting the wrong units for your ruler. If you need an accurate font size for printing, we suggest using pixels for your measurement.

Check out the steps below to change your configurations:

  1. On Adobe Photoshop, click on Edit on the menu bar and select Preferences
  2. Now, go to the Units & Rulers tab.

4. Turn Off Resampling on Photoshop.

Resampling is a feature on Adobe Photoshop that automatically changes the pixel dimensions of your image. This often downgrades the quality of your photo and could cause inconsistency with your font sizes.

Follow the guide below to disable this feature:

  1. First, open Adobe Photoshop on your PC
  2. On the menu bar, click on Image and choose Image Size

5. Use Another Font.

Some fonts on Adobe Photoshop may not work correctly, which can cause inconsistency in your font sizes. There are also some fonts that are smaller or bigger than normal, which also cause font size problems.

To fix this, try out other fonts on your project and refrain from using fonts that are not compatible with Adobe Photoshop.

6. Re-Adjust Your Texts

If you still encounter font size problems on Adobe Photoshop, the last thing you can do is manually resize the texts on your project. While this might consume time, it’s a temporary fix if you need to finish a project.

Select the text you want to adjust and hit CTR + T on your keyboard to access the Free Transform tool.
