How to Fix Green Tint on Kodi

Do you experience green tint issues on Kodi?

Film producers try their best to produce the highest picture quality possible on their movies. This is done in the post-production stage, which involves color optimization, sound tweaking, and special effects to enhance the movie’s final version. 

However, all of this won’t matter if your media player cannot render the correct colors and tone of the film.

Unfortunately, this has been the case for Kodi users. 

There have been reports from various Kodi users who experience green tint while playing movies and videos on the platform.

Thankfully, you’ve come to the right place. 

In this guide, we will show you what to do if you see green tint on Kodi while playing videos. 

Let’s get right into it! 

1. Restart Kodi. 

Before changing your system configuration, we recommend restarting Kodi first if your videos are not playing right. This will allow your system to reload Kodi’s resources and eliminate any errors that may have occurred during runtime. 

Simply close down the Kodi player on your device and wait for at least 5 seconds before relaunching the app. 

Once done, go back to the movie or show you want to watch and check if the green tint issue on Kodi is fixed. 

2. Restart Your Device. 

If restarting Kodi did not work, you can try restarting your entire system. The problem could be with your device drivers or system files, which causes videos to produce a green tint or hue while playing. 

For Windows users, here’s how you can restart your system: 

1. On your computer, access the Start Menu on the Taskbar. 
2. After that, click on the Power icon to access the selection menu. 
3. Finally, click on Restart.

1. First, open the Apple Menu on your Mac. 
2. Next, choose the Restart option.

3. Update Kodi Add-Ons. 

If you experience the green tint issue while streaming movies from Kodi add-ons, we recommend updating them. The current build you’re using may have an underlying problem related to video playback. 

Here’s what you need to do to update Kodi add-ons: 

1. On your device, launch Kodi and access the Settings. 
2. After that, go to Add-Ons and select the one you want to update. 
3. Now, click the Versions tab and choose the latest build possible. 
4. Finally, go back to the previous page and enable Auto-Updates. 

After updating your add-ons, go back to the movie or show you’re streaming to check if the problem is solved. 

4. Update Kodi. 

After updating your add-ons, we suggest updating Kodi as well to eliminate compatibility issues on the platform. This will also patch any bugs or glitches that were present in the previous version. 

On Android devices, see the steps below to update Kodi: 

1. Launch the Google Play Store on your Android device. 
2. Next, tap on your Profile and go to My Apps & Device. 
3. After that, choose Updates Available. 
4. Finally, locate Kodi from the list and tap the Update button.

For iOS users, here’s how you can update Kodi on your device:

1. First, open the App Store on your device. 
2. After that, go to your Profile and locate the Kodi app. 
3. Lastly, tap the Update button next to Kodi to install the latest version. 

If you are using a computer, go to Kodi’s website and download the latest installer from there. 

Once done, go back to Kodi and try playing another video to check if the problem is solved. 

5. Disable Colour Management. 

Kodi has a colour management feature that allows you to use 3D LUT files and ICC Profiles to simulate color spaces on your device. However, this can cause issues if you don’t know how to configure it properly. 

In this case, we suggest turning this feature off and see if the green tint issue on Kodi goes away. 

Here’s what you need to do: 

1. First, go to Kodi and access the Settings. 
2. Next, click on System and choose Display. 
3. Lastly, make sure that Colour Management and Use Limited Colour Range are turned off. 

Go back to the movie or video you’re watching afterward and check if the problem is solved. 

6. Change Your Render Method. 

Depending on the system you’re using, Kodi will automatically choose the proper render method for the videos you play. However, there are instances when the app selects the wrong method for your system. 

To fix this, try out the various rendering methods on Kodi and see which one works for you. 

Follow the steps below to access this setting on the app: 

1. On Kodi, click the Gear icon to access Settings. 
2. Now, go to the Player tab and click on Videos. 
3. Finally, click on Render Method under the Processing tab and choose one setting. 

Once done, go back to the video you’re playing and see if the green tint issue is fixed. If not, go back to the settings and choose another rendering method. 

7. Reinstall Your Add-Ons. 

If you still encounter green tint on Kodi add-ons, we recommend reinstalling them on the platform. Some of its files may have gotten severely corrupted and are no longer fixable. 

Check out the steps below to delete Kodi add-ons: 

1. First, access the Settings on Kodi. 
2. After that, click on Add-Ons and choose the add-on you want to delete. 
3. Lastly, choose the Uninstall option and follow the prompts to delete your Kodi Add-On. 

Once done, reinstall the add-on on Kodi and check if the green tint issue is solved. 

8. Reinstall Kodi.
