Recently, a couple of users have reported that they are having problems accessing LinkedIn’s main page. Most of the time, the problem is due to difficulties on LinkedIn’s side, particularly on their servers. However, this is not always the case, and other factors like slow internet connections, VPN services, and corrupted browser data should also be considered.

1. Check LinkedIn’s Servers. 

As mentioned above, the primary reason for this error is LinkedIn’s servers. If they are encountering problems on their side, then most of their services won’t be available to most users. 

To verify if this is the case, try checking the status of their servers. You can do this by using a third-party site like Downdetector. It is a free tool available online that displays the current status of LinkedIn’s servers and the problems it encountered for the past 24 hours. 

 

 

Unfortunately, if their servers are currently down, then you can’t do anything about it but wait until LinkedIn gets everything sorted on their end. 

 

 

2. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies. 

Most browsers today, use temporary data called cache and cookies which are stored locally on your device. These data are used to speed up the loading times of websites that you previously visited. 

Over time, browsing cache and cookies accumulate and get corrupted while in use. With this, instead of improving the performance of your browser, it actually hinders your browser from loading websites. 

To fix this, simply clear your browsing data to get rid of corrupted caches and cookies. 

  1. On your browser, press CTRL + H on your keyboard to open the History tab
  2. After that, click on Clear Browsing Data
  3. Next, click on the checkbox beside ‘Cookies and Other Site Data’ and ‘Cached Images and Files’ to include them when clearing your browser’s data. 
  4. Lastly, change the Time Range to ‘All Time’, then click the Clear Data button

Restart your browser after clearing your browsing data. Now, try to open LinkedIn again to see if the problem is already fixed.

3. Turn Off VPN.

VPN services are applications used by many users to cover their identity online and keep their data secured. It works by altering your default IP address with a dummy one, and forwards your traffic to a server away from your location. 

However, these VPN services can also cause problems when accessing different websites. Since it changes your IP address randomly, a proper connection between your browser and LinkedIn’s servers cannot be established.

5. Check and Reset Your Internet. 

Websites that refuse to load on your browser could indicate that your network is unstable or running slow. To verify this, try to run a simple speed test using your browser. 

Use Fast.com for testing your internet connection. It is a third-party site that measures your network’s upload and download speed bandwidth.

If your network is indeed the problem, you can fix it by restarting your router. This way, your router would have a chance to re-establish a proper connection with your internet service provider. 

To restart your router, locate its power cable and unplug it from the wall outlet. Now, allow your router to restart by waiting for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging it back into your outlet.

Once your router has restarted, try to run another speed test to check if the issue is already fixed. However, if you continue to experience problems with your network, contact your ISP immediately and let them know about the problem. 

 

 

6. Disable Browser Extensions. 

While browser extensions are great for adding functionality to websites, it can also interfere with how a certain site functions. If LinkedIn is not loading, try disabling your browser extensions that are not related to LinkedIn.

  1. First, press ALT + E on your keyboard, followed by the S key to open Settings on your browser. 
  2. Inside the Settings, click on Extensions from the side menu.

Thankfully, DNS does the hard work for us and incorporates site domains like Facebook.com, Saintlad.com, and Google.com to their respective IP addresses. 

If you are having problems loading certain sites, consider changing your default DNS server with another one. It is possible that your ISP’s DNS server is currently down, which explains why LinkedIn is not loading up.
