How to Fix Images Not Downloading on Google Chrome

Are images not downloading on Google Chrome?

Google Chrome is currently the most popular web browser in the world with over 2.6 billion users worldwide. With a massive user base, you’d think that Chrome doesn’t encounter issues and downtimes.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. Like many leading platforms and software, Google Chrome can run into issues like images not downloading.

Depending on the situation, there are several reasons why this problem occurs. For one, it could be due to slow network connections. On the other hand, it can also be due to improper configurations and server downtimes.

In this guide, we will show you how to fix images that are not downloading on Google Chrome.

Let’s get started!

1. Restart Your Computer.

Whenever you encounter issues with any software, the first thing you should do is restart your device. This should allow your system to reload its resources and eliminate issues that occurred during use.

See the steps below to restart your PC:

  1. Access the Start Menu on your Taskbar
  2. Next, open the Power Options tab.
  3. Finally, click on Restart to reboot your system.

Go back to Google Chrome afterward and see if you can now download images.

2. Check Your Network Connection.

Slow or unstable internet could also cause images not to download on Chrome. Since you are using an online service, you’ll need a stable connection to enjoy its services and features.

To check if your network is the problem, perform a speed test using Fast.com to measure your network’s upload and download bandwidth.

If the result indicates a problem with your connection, we recommend power cycling your device to refresh the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router’s power cable from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging it back in.

Once done, perform another test on your network to check if the problem is solved. If not, contact your provider and ask them to fix the issue.

3. Clear Browsing Data.

Another reason you can’t use Google Chrome correctly is if your browser contains corrupted and broken files. To rule this out, clear your browsing data to remove all temporary data in your system.

See the guide below to clear your browsing data:

  1. On your keyboard, press CTRL + H while your browser is open. This will launch the History tab.
  2. Inside the History tab, click on Clear Browsing Data.
  3. Now, make sure the ‘Cached Images and Files’ and ‘Cookies and Other Site Data’ is selected.
  4. Lastly, click on the Clear Data button to start the process.

4. Remove Browser Extensions.

Third-party extensions could also be the reason images are not downloading on Google Chrome. Some extensions installed on your browser may not be compatible with the websites, causing some features to malfunction.

Check out the steps below to turn off your extensions:

  1. On your browser, click on the Options button at the top right corner of your screen.
  2. After that, click on the Settings tab.
  3. Inside Settings, click on the Extensions tab to open it.
  4. Lastly, turn off all the extensions that you’ve installed.

Restart your browser to apply the changes and see if you can download images.

5. Disable Antivirus Protection.

Your antivirus protection could be blocking Google Chrome from downloading files to your computer. To rule this out, we recommend disabling your protection in the meantime while downloading photos and images.

On the other hand, you can also try adding Chrome to your antivirus or firewall’s exception list if it supports the feature.

6. Reinstall Chrome.

If none of the solutions above worked, the last thing you can do is reinstall Google Chrome on your computer. This should ensure that there are no missing or corrupted files on your system and the browser is installed properly.

Check out the steps below to delete Chrome:

  1. First, access the Control Panel on your computer.
  2. After that, click on Uninstall a Program
  3. Locate Chrome, right-click on it, and choose Uninstall
