Wondering if Among Us is down right now but don’t know how to verify it?
With its recent rise in popularity, Among Us has seen steady growth when it comes to the number of users wanting to play the game.
While the increase in the volume of players is good for any developer, Innersloth did not predict that their game would see huge attention from players all over the world prior to its release in 2018.
Because of the sudden spike in the number of players, their servers may have a hard time to accommodate all the players simply because it was not designed to handle thousands of players all at the same time.
This resulted in several in-game errors like the ‘Matchmaking is Full’ or ‘Disconnected from the Server’ errors or high pings.
However, there are also other problems like their servers shutting down occasionally when it can’t handle the volume of players.
If you can’t log in or play Among Us at this moment, there is a high chance that their servers are down once again.
Today, we are going to show you how to check if Among Us’ servers are indeed down and how you can fix it.
Let’s get started!
How to Verify If Among Us Servers Are Down?
The most obvious indication that the game servers are down is if you cannot log in to your account. These can indicate that the problem is serious since even the login function of their game is not working.
Sadly, if you cannot log in to the game, then there is nothing that you can do about it but wait for Innersloth to fix the issue on their side.
However, if you are able to log in to your Among Us account but having a hard time playing the game, then there is a chance you might be able to fix the issue temporarily.
Check Their Twitter Account.
The easiest way to check if Among Us are indeed down is to visit Innersloth’s Twitter account.
Do know we're super duper aware of the server issues, things are being done! In the mean time, please make sure you are playing in the correct region and are on the current v2020.9.9 !

The developers give constant updates regarding the status of their server on their Twitter page and also give news and announcements related to the game.
Visit the Subreddit Page.
If you happen to have a Reddit account, then you can also check the status of the game on Among Us’ subreddit page.
There you can interact with other players regarding the issue and possibly share insights on how to deal with the issue on the game.
Use a Third-Party Site.
You can also use third-party sites like Downdetector. It is a useful site that gives out information regarding the status of Among Us’ servers.
Downdetector also shows the behavior of Among Us for the past 24 hours and the most reported problem regarding the game. You can also use this site for checking the status of other applications and websites.
Can You Fix Among Us Servers If They Are Down?
Well technically, you cannot fix the actual servers since you’ll have to access them physically.
However, if the problem with Innersloth’s servers is not major and some players are able to play the game normally, then there are a few workarounds worth trying on your side to alleviate the issue.
1. Restart the Game.
If you are having a hard time joining a game or can’t log in to your account, you can try restarting the game on your device. Possibly, your device is just having a hard time establishing a connection to the game servers.
Restarting the game would allow your device to reload all of its resources and probably establish a better connection with the servers.
For desktop and laptop users, you can restart Among Us by doing the following:
- First, close the game normally as you would.
- After that, press on Windows key + X on your keyboard to open the Quick Access Menu.
- Now, click on Task Manager to open it.
- Finally, go to the Processes tab and verify that Among Us is not running in the background. If this is the case, simply click Among Us and hit the End Task button to stop it from running.
Once done, re-login to your Steam account and open Among Us once again.
On the other hand, if you are an Android user, you can restart Among Us by simply swiping up from the bottom of your screen until the app switcher appears. Now, locate the game from the list and flick it upwards to stop it from running.
However, if you are on an iOS device with an all-screen display, you can also restart Among Us by swiping up from the bottom part of your display until the app switcher pops out. Locate Among Us from the list and swipe it upwards until it is removed.
Now, if you are using an older iOS device that has a Home button, you can open the app switcher by double-tapping the Home button. Inside the app switcher, locate Among Us and simply swipe it upwards until it is removed from the list.
Go back to your Android or iOS device’s home screen and open Among Us again.
After restarting Among Us, try to join a game once again to see if you would encounter any errors.
2. Check Your Internet Connection.
Given that Among Us servers are already encountering problems, having an internet connection that is slow or unstable would only worsen the situation.
To ensure that your internet connection is running properly, try to perform a simple speed test using a third-party site like Fast.com. It is a simple tool that is accessible on your browser, which effectively measures your internet upload and download speed.
If your internet turns out to be slow or not close to the speed indicated on your subscription plan, you can try restarting your router to re-establish a good connection between your router and ISP (Internet Service Provider).
To do this, locate the power cable of your router which is usually at the back, and unplug it. Now, wait for at least 5 to 10 seconds and plug back in the power cable.
Run another speed test to see if your internet connection is already working properly.
However, if you are still having issues with your internet, it is best that you contact your ISP and let them know the problem you are experiencing with their service.
3. Update the Game.
Finally, you can try checking for an update on the game. Since the game is having stability issues, Innersloth tries its best to roll out patches to improve the performance of the app.
If you haven’t updated the game for a while, we suggest that you update it now to eliminate underlying issues with the outdated version of the game.
On desktops and laptops, you can update the game by doing the following steps:
- First, open Steam from your desktop and log in to your account.
- After that, click on the Library tab.
- Lastly, click on the Update button if an update is available for the app.
On the other hand, if you are using an Android device, check out the guide below on how to update Among Us.
- On your device, tap on the Google Play Store to open it.
- Inside Google Play Store, click on the button with three horizontal lines located at the search bar to open the side menu.
- Next, click on My Apps & Games.
- Finally, if an update is available, simply tap on the Update button beside Among Us to download and install the update.
For iOS users, follow the step-by-step guide below on how to update Among Us:
- First, open the App Store on your device.
- Inside the App Store, tap on the Updates tab.
- Lastly, click on the Update button beside Among Us if an update is available to download and install it.
After updating the game, open it once again and try to play a game to check if you would encounter any error message or random disconnection while playing.
4. Change Your Server.
For the last method, you can try changing your server to another region. It is possible that the problem with Among Us servers is isolated to a specific region and other servers are working fine.
To verify this, simply change your server to another one in-game to see if these lessens the occurrence of error messages.
- First, open Among Us on your device (PC, Android, iOS). On the main menu, tap on Online.
- Now, click on the world icon from the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Lastly, select another server from the list.
Now, join another game from your new server to check if you would see the same error messages while playing the game.
Sadly, if none of the methods above worked in fixing the server issue on Among Us, then you have no choice but to wait for Innersloth to provide a solution from their end.
