Disney Plus Not Working on Nvidia Shield? Here’s the Fix

Is Disney Plus not working on your Nvidia Shield?

Disney Plus has been out on the market for quite some time already. The number of users availing of this new streaming service also grows each day. However, people who get frustrated with the platform also increase due to the application’s unexpected problems.

Given that you are paying a monthly premium, it is understandable if you expect a better user experience on the app.

Recently, users have been reporting issues with the Disney Plus app not working on the NVIDIA Shield. What makes it worse is that there is no particular reason for the problem.

Well, we’ve done a little research and found out that this issue is often caused by a problem with Disney Plus’ servers or wrong configurations on your NVIDIA Shield.

Typical problems like bugs, slow internet connection, and corrupted files could also be the culprit.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a guide in fixing the Disney Plus app if it is not working on your NVIDIA Shield.

Let’s get right into it!

1. Check Disney Plus Servers.

Before tweaking your NVIDIA Shield or making changes to your account, identify first if the problem is on your end or coming from Disney Plus’ side. To do this, check the status of its servers by using third-party tools like Downdetector

Disney Plus Server Status

If the servers are down, there’s nothing you can do for now but to wait for Disney to address the issue.

On the other hand, proceed to the remaining methods below if Disney Plus’ servers are working fine.

2. Try Using Without HDMI Splitter.

Based on what we’ve found out, some users were able to address the issue on Disney Plus after connecting their NVIDIA Shield directly to their televisions. Some TVs have limited HDMI ports, which forces owners to buy splitters to connect all their devices.

However, for some unknown reason, Disney Plus refuses to work if your device is connected to an HDMI splitter.

So, to fix the Disney Plus app, plug in the HDMI cable directly to your TV, and the app should work now.

3. Use A Newer HDMI Cable.

As it turns out, Disney Plus refuses to work if you are using an older HDMI cable on your NVIDIA Shield. Since Disney Plus plays 4K HD movies, the new HDMI 2.0 connector is needed for the application to work correctly on your NVIDIA Shield.

On the other hand, try to plug in the HDMI cable on different ports if you are already using an HDMI 2.0 cable.

4. Try Watching Another Show.

Some movies on Disney Plus encounter problems and become unplayable for a certain period. If you are having a hard time watching your favorite shows on Disney, try to go back to the media library and choose another title.

This way, you can identify if the problem is with the movie or TV show you are trying to watch or the entire platform.

If certain Disney Plus movies are unavailable, proceed to the last method below to let their team know about the issue.

5. Re-Login to Your Account.

Your account data may have gotten corrupted during use or when Disney Plus’ servers went down unexpectedly. In this case, you should log out of your current session and log back in after a few minutes to refresh your data.

Check out the steps below to log out of your Disney Plus account on NVIDIA Shield:

  1. First, open your Disney Plus account using a web browser.
  2. After that, point the mouse cursor to your Avatar and open the Account tab.
  3. Lastly, click on Log Out of All Devices to continue.

Once done, wait for 2 to minutes before logging back into your account. Use Disney Plus again on your NVIDIA Shield to check if the problem is solved.

6. Check and Reset Your Internet.

Network related problems could also be why the Disney Plus app is not working on your NVIDIA Shield. The platform requires a minimum internet bandwidth of 5 Mbps to enjoy movies and TV shows without issues.

Run a test on your network using Fast.com to check if your connection meets the required internet speed of Disney Plus.

If your current plan is below 5 Mbps, check in with your service provider on how you can upgrade your subscription.

On the other hand, restart your router if your network is not reaching your monthly plan’s dedicated speed. Unplug your router’s power chord and wait for 5  to 10 seconds before plugging it back in.
