1. Check TikTok Servers. 

When you encounter issues on TikTok, the first thing you should always do is check the status of the servers. Since TikTok is an online platform, its servers play a significant role in keeping the application stable.

2. Restart the App. 

If you can’t send messages on TikTok, it can be due to temporary errors on the platform. To rule this out, restart the app on your device to reload its installation files and other resources. 

For Android and iOS devices, swipe upwards from the bottom of your display to access the application switcher. From there, find TikTok and drag it upwards until it’s removed from the list to stop it from running.

If you are using an older iOS device, you can access the app switcher by pressing the Home button twice. 

After closing TikTok, go back to your app drawer and relaunch the app. 

3. Check Your Network Connection. 

A slow or unstable network could also be the reason messages are not sending on TikTok. Since you’re using an online service, you’ll need a decent internet connection to have a smooth experience on the app. 

To check if your network is the problem, perform a test on your browser using to measure your connection’s current speed.

4. Ensure That You Have a Verified Phone Number. 

One of the requirements to use the messaging feature on TikTok is to have a verified phone number. If you’re new to the platform and unable to send messages to other users, check if you have already verified your number.

  1. First, go to your Profile and tap on the Options button. 
  2. After that, access the Manage Account tab. 
  3. Now, tap on Phone Number and choose your country or region.

5. Try Messaging Other Users.

6. Update TikTok 

TikTok releases updates on its platform to ensure that the app stays compatible with all the latest devices and patch bugs and other glitches that may have occurred.

For iOS users, see the steps below to update TikTok on your device: 

  1. On your home screen, tap on the App Store to launch it. 
  2. After that, go to your Profile and find TikTok from the list of apps with available updates. 
  3. Finally, tap the Update button next to TikTok to install the update.

7. Reinstall TikTok.
