Is the Netflix app not working on your PS4?

If the servers are down, go back to the game you are playing or stretch your legs for a bit until Netflix gets everything sorted on their end.
2. Test Using Your Other Devices.
If the Netflix app is not working on your PS4, check your other devices if the situation is the same. Access your profile using a browser or mobile device and see if you would experience the same problem.
This way, you can verify if the problem is with your device or Netflix’s platform. Proceed to the last method below if you can’t access Netflix on your other devices to report the problem.
3. Check and Reset Your Internet.
Network-related issues could also be the reason why the Netflix app is not working on your PS4. A minimum speed of 1.5 Mbps is required to enjoy Netflix without problems. To check your connection, perform a speed test using Fast.com to see if it meets the minimum requirement.
If your network is running slow, restart your router to re-establish the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router’s power chord from the wall outlet and plug it back in after 10 seconds.

4. Turn Off Your VPN at Router Level.
Some titles on Netflix are hidden in particular regions due to licensing issues. Netflix restricts access to users who run VPNs to bypass restrictions on the platform.

5. Restart Your PS4.

- On your console, go to the main screen and press the Options button on your controller.
- After that, go to the Power tab.
- Lastly, select Restart PS4 and hit the O or X button to confirm.
Wait for your PS4 to restart and try using the Netflix app again.
6. Check for Updates.
Sony releases occasional updates on the PS4 to ensure that it is compatible with all the applications and errors are being patched. If the Netflix app is not working, try to update your system and see if this fixes the issue.

7. Update Netflix.
If you haven’t updated the Netflix app on your PS4, now is the time to do so. Netflix releases frequent updates on their platform to keep the app optimized for your console and to address any errors that may have occurred.
If the Netflix app is not working on your PS4, go to the Playstation Store and update the app. See the steps below to guide you on the process:
- On your console, find Netflix from the home screen and select it using your controller.
- After that, press the Options button on your controller to access the side menu.
- Lastly, highlight Check for Updates and press the O or X button to confirm. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest version of Netflix.
After updating the app, go back to Netflix and see if the problem is solved.
8. Reinstall the Netflix App.
You can also try reinstalling Netflix if the update did not work. Some of its installation files may have gotten corrupted, and the update could no longer fix it. In this case, we suggest that you delete the app from your PS4 and reinstall it afterward.

- First, open your PS4 and find Netflix from your library.
- Highlight Netflix using your controller and press the Options button.
- Now, select Delete on the side menu and press the O or X button.
- Lastly, launch the Playstation Store and reinstall Netflix from there.

9. Restore PS4 to Default Settings.
You may have recently played around with your PS4 settings to boost your ping or reduce lags while playing your favorite games. However, you may unknowingly change some settings that affected Netflix and other applications.
To fix this, we suggest that you restore your PS4 to default settings, which is easier than figuring out what configurations you’ve changed.

- On your PS4, go to the Settings page using your controller.
- After that, select Initialize PS4 and press the O or X button on your controller.
- Lastly, select Restore Default Settings and follow the on-screen prompts to continue with the process.
After restoring your PS4 to default settings, connect to your network again and try using Netflix.
10. Change DNS Settings.
Your ISP’s default DNS server could be down, and your PS4 is having a hard time sending your request to Netflix. DNS servers are one of the major components of the internet, and you won’t be able to access online platforms without them.
To change your DNS settings, follow the steps below:
- On your PS4, go to the main screen and select ‘Setup Internet Connection’.
- After that, select Custom and go to ‘Personal WiFi’.
- Now, select DNS and choose the Manual option.
- Finally, set your Primary DNS to 126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52 for Secondary DNS. Leave other configurations to Automatic and save the changes.
Once done, go back to Netflix and check if the problem is solved.
On the other hand, you can also try connecting your PS4 to the internet using a dedicated ethernet cable. Your wireless router could be away from your console, and it is not getting enough signal.
11. Reinstall Parental Control.
If you have a parental control tool running on your PS4, try to reinstall it and see if this gets Netflix working again. Temporary errors can occur on your account and cause some functions on your console not to work.
To reinstall parental control, follow the steps below:
- First, turn off Parental Controls on your account and delete the tool.
- After that, restart your router and reinstall Netflix by following the steps in Method 8.
- Finally, log back into your Netflix account to access your profile.
After that, try playing a few titles on the platform to see if you would still encounter problems.
