Are you wondering if the Netflix server is down?

1. Check Netflix Servers.
Before anything else, you need to make sure first that the problem is with Netflix servers. To do this, visit their dedicated status page, where you can view the current status of Netflix and the issues it encountered.
However, if the servers are down, the website may not be accessible. In this case, you can use third-party websites like Downdetector, which gives information about Netflix and the problems it has encountered for the last 24 hours.
2. Re-Login to Your Account.
Temporary errors may have occurred on your user data when the servers went down. If this happens, your current session would be full of unexpected issues and glitches.
To fix this, you need to sign out of your account and log back in after several minutes to refresh your account data.
Follow the steps below to sign out of your account on all devices at once:
- First, open your browser and access your Netflix account.
- Now, point the mouse cursor on your Profile and click on Account.
- After that, go to the Settings tab and click on Sign Out of All Devices.
- Lastly, click on Sign Out to log out of your account.
After several minutes, log back into your Netflix account and check if the problem is solved.
3. Check and Reset Your Internet.
The last thing you want when Netflix servers are down is to have a slow internet connection. Given that the servers are having issues, your device may struggle to communicate with it, and a slow internet connection can make things worse.
To check if your network is running correctly, run a speed test using Fast.com to measure its current bandwidth.
Restart your router if the result shows that your connection is running slow. Unplug your router’s power cable from the outlet and allow several seconds to pass before plugging it back in.
Once done, re-run the test and check if your network is now running correctly. Contact your ISP if you continue to experience network-related issues and ask them to fix their service.
4. Turn Off VPN.
VPNs work by changing your IP address and filtering your data to prevent hackers from using it against you. However, this process can affect your network’s quality, making it difficult for your device to communicate with Netflix.
Besides, Netflix goes against users who use VPNs on their devices. Due to licensing issues, Netflix can face legal sanctions if users from other regions can access restricted content on the platform.
Before using Netflix, make sure that your VPN is turned off to avoid issues.

5. Clear Your Browser Cache and Cookies.
Browsers use temporary data called caches and cookies to improve their performance when loading up websites. However, caches and cookies can accumulate over time and get corrupted.
If Netflix is not working on your browser, clear your browsing data to eliminate corrupted files. Follow the steps below to clear your browsing data:
- Open your browser and press the CTRL + H keys on your keyboard to access the History tab.
- Now, click on Clear Browsing Data on the side menu.
- After that, click on the Time Range tab and select All Time from the list.
- Lastly, include caches and cookies in the process and hit the Clear Data button to start.
After clearing your browsing data, go back to Netflix and check if you would still encounter errors.
6. Disable Browser Extensions.
Extensions are third-party applications that add extra features to the websites you visit. However, not all websites are compatible with browser extensions and could interrupt their normal flow.
Given that the Netflix server is down, you don’t want to introduce additional interruptions on the platform.
Before accessing Netflix, turn off your extensions first by doing the following steps:
- On your browser, click the Options button and select the Settings tab.
- Now, click on the Extensions tab from the side menu.
- Disable all your browser extensions and restart your browser.
Once done, go back to Netflix and try to play a movie or TV show.
7. Run Malwarebytes.
Viruses and malware can negatively affect your device’s performance and the applications installed in it. If you are experiencing random errors on Netflix and other apps, your system could be suffering from a virus attack.

8. Restart Your Device.

On Android, see the steps below to restart it:
- First, press the Power button of your device until the options screen shows up.
- Now, tap on Restart to reboot your device.
- Wait for the process to complete, which can take several seconds.
For iOS devices, follow the guide below to restart them:
- On your device, press and hold the Power button until the ‘Slide to Power Off’ screen appears.
- After that, tap and drag the slider to the right until your display turns off.
- Finally, tap the Power button again to restart your device.
If you are on a Windows computer, you can restart it by doing the following:
- First, click on the Start button to access the Start Menu.
- Next, click on the Power button to open the Power Options page.
- Lastly, click on Restart to reboot Windows.

- On your Mac, click on the Apple Menu at the top left corner of your display to access the drop-down menu.
- Now, click on Restart.
- Finally, click on Restart again to confirm your action.
Once done, go back to Netflix and check if the problem is solved.
9. Update Netflix App.
Netflix might already be aware of the issue on their platform and could roll out an update anytime. This update will contain the patch to fix the problem on Netflix and some security updates for your account.
On Android, you can update Netflix by doing the following:
- First, launch the Google Play Store from the app drawer and tap the Menu button inside the search bar.
- Now, tap on My Apps & Games to check for updates.
- Tap the Update button next to Netflix to install the latest version.
For iOS users, follow the steps below to update Netflix:
- On your device, tap on the App Store from your home screen to open it.
- After that, tap on your Profile.
- Finally, locate Netflix from the list and tap on the Update button.

10. Reinstall Netflix.

On Android, you can delete Netflix by doing the following:
- First, locate the Netflix app from your application drawer.
- After that, tap and hold its icon until the options menu appears.
- Lastly, tap on Uninstall to delete Netflix.

- Now, press its icon to access the selection screen.
- Finally, tap on Remove App to uninstall Netflix.

12. Report the Problem to Netflix.
