How to Fix No Stream Available Error on Kodi

Are you wondering why you’re seeing a ‘no stream available’ error message on Kodi?

Kodi is the perfect platform for users who don’t want to pay a monthly premium to enjoy on-demand movies and TV shows. Initially developed by Microsoft for the 1st generation Xbox, Kodi was then managed by a community to support multiple platforms.

Although Kodi works well for most devices, it’s not flawless and occasional errors may occur.

While we can’t really complain about free software, this doesn’t mean that we just simply accept the fact that Kodi may refuse to work at some point.

One of the most common issues on Kodi is the ‘no stream available’ error message.

Unfortunately, there’s no specific reason as to why this error occurs on the platform. However, there are few known workarounds for fixing this problem.

In this guide, we will show you all the possible solutions for fixing the ‘no stream available’ error on Kodi.

Let’s get right into it!

1. Clear Kodi’s Cache.

When you run into an error while using Kodi, the first thing that you might want to do is clear its cache. Like any app, Kodi uses cache to improve its performance when loading pages, playing media files, and accessing websites.

For Windows users, follow the guide below to clear Kodi’s cache:

  1. First, access the Run Command by pressing the Windows + R keys on your keyboard.
  2. After that, enter ‘%temp%’ and click OK to open the folder.
  3. Lastly, highlight all the files inside the folder and delete them.

On Android devices, you can clear Kodi’s cache by doing the following:

  1. On your app drawer, find Kodi and press its app icon until the selection screen appears.
  2. Next, tap on App Info and access the Storage & Cache tab.
  3. Finally, tap on Clear Cache to start the process.

If you are using an Amazon Firestick, navigate to Settings > App > Kodi and click the Clear Cache option.

After clearing Kodi’s cache, try streaming another content to check if the problem is solved.

2. Update Your Add-Ons.

If you can’t stream content using your Kodi add-ons, there may be an underlying issue with the current build you’re using. To fix this, try updating your add-on to the latest version possible to patch bugs and other glitches.

Here’s how you can update add-ons on Kodi:

  1. First, go to the Settings and click on Add-Ons
  2. After that, open the add-on you want to update and click the Versions tab.
  3. Lastly, select the latest build possible and install it on your Kodi app.

Once done, go back to the previous page and turn on Auto-Update to keep your add-ons updated all the time.

Try streaming on Kodi again to check if the ‘no stream available’ error would still occur.

3. Check Your Network Connection.

Another reason why contents are not loading on Kodi is if your network is running slow. You can confirm this by performing a speed test on your connection using Fast.com to measure its current upload and download bandwidth.

Speed Test

If there’s a problem with your network, reboot your modem or router to refresh the link between your router and your ISP’s servers.

Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before reconnecting it.

Restart Router

Once done, run another test on your network to check if everything’s in order. If you still experience network-related problems, contact your service provider and ask them to fix their service.

4. Check If Your Add-On Is Still Available.

Since Kodi is heavily driven by the community, it’s not new for add-ons to get abandoned. Usually, this happens when there are no users left in the community or the developer for the add-on is no longer active.

Add-Ons can also get shut down due to violations or piracy if they provide content from premium services.

These are what we call ‘dead’ or ‘abandoned’ repositories.

You can always head to Kodi’s Reddit page and ask the community if there’s any news about the add-on you’re trying to use.

5. Use A VPN.

Many add-ons on Kodi use content from various sources to provide smooth and quality video streams. With this, your ISP may have set restrictions on some of these sources, causing your stream not to load.

To avoid this, we suggest using a virtual private network service to bypass these restrictions.

You can check PureVPN if you currently don’t have a VPN provider. PureVPN uses high-speed servers worldwide and utilizes various tunneling protocols to ensure fast and secured browsing online.

It works well for most streaming services, including Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and more.

6. Reinstall Your Add-On.

If you still see the ‘no stream available’ error on Kodi, we recommend reinstalling your add-on on the platform. Some of its installation files may have gotten corrupted or not installed correctly on your system.

Follow the steps below to uninstall add-ons on Kodi:

  1. First, go to the Add-Ons tab on the main screen.
  2. After that, choose the add-on you want to remove.
  3. Lastly, click the Uninstall button and follow the prompts to continue.
