Is the Peacock app not working on your device?
Recently, Peacock users have been complaining about the mobile app not working correctly on their devices. This can be really annoying, especially if you want to watch your favorite shows after a tiring day at the office.
For some users, they are having a hard time streaming movies and TV shows on the Peacock app. There are also reports from users that the app is not even launching on their end.
Depending on the situation, this issue on Peacock can be due to several reasons. For one, it’s possible that the version of Peacock you are using is outdated or faulty. It is also possible that your network connection is unstable or there are improper configurations on your device.
Luckily, you don’t have to do the guesswork, as we are here to help.
In this guide, we will show you how to fix the Peacock app if it is not working correctly on your mobile device.
Let’s get started!
1. Check the Servers.
Before doing anything, you’d want to identify first whether the problem is coming from Peacock or your end. You can do this by visiting third-party services like Downdetector, where you can check the status of Peacock’s servers.
If there’s an ongoing issue with the servers, the best thing you can do is wait. Sadly, server-related problems on Peacock can’t be resolved on your end.
On the other hand, you can head to the next solution if there’s nothing wrong with the servers.
2. Restart Your Device.
As a standard procedure, we always recommend users restart their devices whenever they encounter software-related problems. This should allow your system to reload its resources and eliminate temporary errors that may have occurred during use.
For Android:
- Locate the Power button on your device.
- Press and hold it down until you see the selection menu.
- Finally, tap on Restart.
For iOS:
- Access the Assistive Touch on your iOS device.
- From there, navigate to Device > More.
- Lastly, hit Restart.
Relaunch the app afterward and check if the problem is solved.
3. Try Other Applications.
There’s a possibility that the issue is with your device and not the Peacock app. To rule this out, we suggest trying other applications installed on your mobile to see if they work. If other apps are working fine, the issue must be with the Peacock app.
On the other hand, there’s a good chance that your problem is system-related if other apps are malfunctioning as well.
4. Check Your Network Connection.
If you can’t stream anything through the Peacock app, this might indicate a problem with your network. Since you are using an online service, you’ll need stable internet to enjoy its features without a problem.
To confirm this, perform a test on your network using Fast.com to measure its current upload and download speed.
If your network is unstable, power cycle your modem or router to re-establish the connection with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for at least five seconds before plugging it back in.
Once your router has initialized, re-run the test to check if the problem is solved. If not, contact your service provider and ask them to resolve the issue with your connection.
5. Update Peacock.
You can also try updating the Peacock app if it is not working on your device. The version you are running might be outdated or has an underlying issue that prevents movies and shows from loading.
For Android:
- Go to your app drawer and launch the Google Play Store.
- Next, access your profile and tap on Manage Apps & Device.
- After that, go to the Updates Available tab.
- Locate Peacock from the list and hit Update.
For iOS:
- Access the App Store on your device.
- Now, go to your Profile and scroll down.
- Find Peacock from the list and choose Update.
Go back to your account afterward and check if the app works.
6. Clear Peacock App Cache and Data (Android).
Like any Android app, Peacock stores temporary data on your device, which is used to improve loading times and overall performance. However, these data can get corrupted over time and cause issues.
If the Peacock app is not working on your device, try clearing its cache and data.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Go to your app drawer and locate Peacock.
- After that, hold down its icon until the selection menu appears.
- Tap on App Info afterward and access the Storage tab.
- Finally, hit Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Once done, re-login to Peacock and check if the problem is solved.
7. Turn Off VPN.
Virtual private networks are third-party services that protect your network and data from hackers, websites that track your activity, and other harmful entities online. VPNs filter your activity through their servers and mask your IP address to hide your footprint.
However, this process can cause issues with your network and affect its performance. Due to this, we suggest disabling your VPN before running Peacock TV.
On the other hand, you can try switching to other providers if you prefer having a VPN when going online.
We recommend checking PureVPN as an alternative. Compared to other services, it works with most streaming services and uses high-speed servers to keep your connection fast and reliable.
8. Contact Peacock Support.
If the Peacock app is still not working on your device, the last thing you can do is report the problem to Peacock. Visit Peacock’s website and contact their team to ask for assistance regarding the issue you’re experiencing.
Provide all the details on your report to help Peacock’s team assess the situation faster, so they can resolve the issue as soon as possible.
