Not a day goes by that you don’t see yourself not using Reddit on your iPhone.
But you find that the app takes up a huge amount of your storage space on your iPhone ranging from 200MB all the way to even 1GB (mine took 750MB if you were wondering).
So what do you do? Do you just delete and reinstall the app every-time this happens? Is there not a better way to decrease the storage space?
That is where this guide comes in to play. In this guide I’ll show you a few tricks on how you can reduce the storage space that your Reddit app is taking up on your iPhone.
How to Reduce Reddit App Storage Size on iPhone: 5 Ways
1. Clear the history.
You may or may not know this but there’s a button in the settings of your Reddit app which helps clear out the history which in turn noticeably decreases the storage size the app takes up on your iPhone.
I betcha didn’t know that, did ya?
Here’s how you do it.
Step 1: Jump into your Reddit app and then tap on your profile icon (it’s on the top left hand corner).
Step 2: Now on the sidebar, click on your Settings (it’s right at the bottom).
Step 3: Next, in your settings page, scroll down until you see the heading Advanced. Found it? Great! Underneath it you’ll see Clear local history. Tap on Clear local history.
Step 4: Finally, tap on Clear local history once again. You’ll see a notification saying Local History Cleared.
You can check your iPhone’s storage space to see if whether the app has decreased in the amount of storage it’s taking up by jumping into your Settings → General → iPhone Storage.
2. Use Power Clean.
If clearing your Reddit app’s history didn’t do much in terms of freeing up space then you can try to download a good storage cleaner app from your iPhone’s App Store.
Power Clean is a great (and also a free) way for you to clean all your apps’ cache and junk files.
Here’s how you can get started with it.
Step 1: Head over to your App Store and Search for Power Clean. Or you can just click this link below to be directed straight to the app.
Step 2: Now once you have finished downloading it, click on the Power Clean app.
Step 3: Now Click on Clean.
Step 4: Once you have clicked Clean, you will be shown how much junk will be cleaned to free up your iPhone’s space.
Click Clean again.
Step 5: It’ll now start cleaning your iPhone.
Done. Again, you can check to see if whether the Reddit app has decreased in the amount of storage it’s taking up on your iPhone.
3. Remove and Reinstall the app.
If none of the above methods worked then you can always resort to deleting your Reddit app and then reinstalling it back which fairly should decrease the amount of storage that it is taking up on your iPhone.
You’re not going to lose any of your data.
So, just hold down on your Reddit app, press the – red button to delete it and then jump into your App Store app and look for the Reddit app and reinstall it.
You can then check your iPhone’s storage to check if the Reddit app is taking less storage space than before.
4. Update your Reddit App.
Well, unless if you’re trapped like that dude in 127 Hours in some ditch in Utah, you should be updated on the world around you which means keeping your iPhone and all its apps updated to its latest version.
A single update can sometimes do wonders whether it be squashing bugs or making improvements.
So give your iPhone and the apps the care that it needs and you’ll be rewarded with a better user experience.
Here’s how you can update your apps like your Reddit app on your iPhone:
Step 1: Jump into your App Store and then tap on Updates (which is on the bottom far left hand corner).
Step 2: All you have to do now is just tap on the button Update All which is on your top right hand corner to update all your apps.
Also while you’re at that …
5. Don’t forget to update your iOS too.
If you do not know how to update your iPhone, then here’s how:
Step 1: Go ahead jump into your Settings app and then tap on General.
Step 2: Next, tap on Software Update.
Step 3: Finally, all you have to do is just download and install if there’s any new iOS update that is available.
Share this guide with anyone, whether they are your family or your friends or some random Redditor and help them if they find their Reddit app just takes a little too much space on their iPhone.
