How to Fix Roblox Not Working

Can’t figure out why Roblox is not working on your PC?

Roblox is one of the most popular gaming platforms among kids. Many compare it to Minecraft, but the two are in an entirely different category. Minecraft is an actual game where you can explore worlds and survive.

On the other hand, Roblox is a development platform to create games and worlds or play other user-created maps.

Currently, there are hundreds of good games on Roblox that you can play with your friends if you manage to make it work on your computer.

If you’re reading this, Roblox is probably not working on your PC.

There are a handful of reasons why the platform doesn’t work on your device. It can be due to outdated software, faulty servers, improper configurations, or corrupted installation files.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing Roblox if it’s not working correctly on your PC.

Let’s get right into it!

1. Check Roblox Servers.

The first thing that you should check if Roblox is not working is the status of its servers. There are instances when Roblox’s servers run into temporary issues, or its team performs system maintenance.

You can use third-party tools such as Downdetector to view the current status of Roblox.

Roblox Server Status

Since server-related issues can’t be fixed on your end, the only thing you can do if the servers are down is wait for Roblox’s team to address the problem.

On the other hand, you can do the following solution below to troubleshoot the problem if there’s nothing wrong with Roblox’s servers.

2. Restart Your Computer.

If an application refuses to launch or work on your computer, you can try restarting your system to ensure that all of its resources are correctly loaded. This will also eliminate any temporary errors that may have occurred on your computer during runtime.

Check out the steps below to restart your computer:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows icon to open the Start Menu
  2. After that, go to the Power Options tab.
  3. Finally, click on Restart to reboot your system.
Restart Windows

After restarting your system, go back to Roblox to check if the platform is now working.

3. Run Roblox as Admin.

Your system could be blocking Roblox from accessing its resources, explaining why it’s not working on your computer. If this is the case, run the app as an administrator to bypass Windows restrictions.

Follow the steps below to run Roblox as an administrator:

  1. First, locate Roblox from your desktop.
  2. After that, right-click on its shortcut and choose Properties
  3. Now, go to the Compatibility tab.
  4. Lastly, check the ‘Run this Program as an Administrator’ option.

Once done, launch Roblox to see if the problem is solved.

4. Check Your Firewall.

Another reason why Roblox is not working on your system is if Windows Firewall is blocking it from accessing the internet. Since Roblox is an online platform, it needs access to your network to work correctly.

To fix this, ensure that Roblox is allowed to access your network connection. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go to Windows Settings and click on Update & Security
  2. After that, access the Windows Security tab.
  3. Now, open the Firewall & Network Protection tab and click on Allow an App Through Firewall
  4. Finally, find Roblox and ensure that it’s allowed to access both your Private and Public Networks

Once done, try launching Roblox again to check if the platform is now working.

5. Turn Off Your Antivirus.

If you are using a third-party antivirus program, it may be blocking Roblox from launching on your computer. While antivirus is good for keeping harmful files and programs away from your system, it can get too protective and restrict legitimate programs.

To avoid this, add Roblox to the allowed list or safelist to avoid being restricted by your third-party antivirus.

If your antivirus software doesn’t have that feature, you can simply pause the protection on your computer while you’re playing Roblox.

6. Clear Your Browser Cache and Cookies.

For users who can’t access Roblox’s website to browse games, you can try clearing your browsing history. Browsers store temporary data called caches and cookies to enhance their performance.

However, this data can get corrupted and cause various issues to the sites you visit.

You can clear your browser cache and cookies by doing the following:

  1. First, access your browser’s settings.
  2. Next, go to Privacy and Security and click on Clear Browsing Data
  3. After that, change the target Time Range to All Time
  4. Lastly, include caches and cookies in the process and hit the Clear Data button to start.

7. Disable Ad-Blockers and Other Extensions.

If you are using extensions on your browser, such as Ad-Blockers, you need to disable them before accessing Roblox. Since Roblox is a free platform, it displays advertisements on its website to earn some revenue to maintain the game.

Follow the guide below to disable browser extensions:

  1. On your browser, click on the Options tab and choose Settings
  2. Next, access the Extensions tab from the side menu.
  3. Finally, turn off all your extensions and restart your browser.

8. Clear Your Temp Files.

You can also try clearing Windows’ temp files if Roblox is not working on your computer. Some of your system’s temporary data may have gotten corrupted, which causes issues to applications such as Roblox.

Here’s how you can clear your temp files on Windows:

  1. First, press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open Run Command
  2. Now, type ‘%temp%’ and hit the Enter key to access the folder.
  3. Lastly, select all the files and folders and delete them.

Here’s what you need to do to delete Roblox on your computer:

  2. After that, locate the Roblox app from the list of programs installed on your system.
