This problem can occur due to various underlying causes, such as an unstable internet connection, misconfigured settings, or an outdated web browser.

Then, check if you can share your screen now. If you can’t, don’t fret! There are numerous methods in this guide that you can use to fix the issue in no time.

2. Ensure You Have An Active Internet Connection.

An active internet connection is a must for a Google Meet call. So, if you’re facing an issue while screen sharing on Google Meet on Mac, it may be because of a poor internet connection. Try disabling your camera for the time being and only share your screen to fix the issue.

To resolve the issue, first, check your internet strength by following these steps:

  1. Launch Safari from your Mac.
  2. Head over to and let the page load automatically.
  3. After a few moments, your internet speed will be displayed on the screen.
  1. Once the process finishes, check your internet speed.

If the connection is poor, consider connecting to another network and trying again. You may also turn off your camera during the call and only share the screen to fix the problem.

3. Check Google Meet Host Settings.

If you’re a participant in a Google meeting and cannot share your screen, it may be because the host has disabled Screen share for participants. If so, you must ask the host to check their Host settings.

Similarly, if you’re the host in a meeting, the participants cannot share their screens. So, you will need to check your Google Meet host settings and enable the option to allow the participants access to this feature.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to Google Meet from your preferred browser and start a meeting.
  2. Now from the meeting, click on the lock icon from the lower-right corner of the screen.
