How to Fix Sound Issues on Amazon Prime Video

Do you encounter sound issues on Amazon Prime Video?

Sound on films and shows makes up 50% of the experience. Without sound, videos would be lifeless, and you won’t understand the plot or what is happening on the screen.

Due to this, having the best sound quality when streaming movies online is crucial to completing your experience. Unfortunately, this is not the case for some individuals who use Amazon Prime Video to consume content.

Recently, there have been reports from individuals who are experiencing sound issues on Amazon Prime.

Based on the report, some users are experiencing poor audio quality while others can’t hear anything at all.

Usually, sound issues on Amazon Prime Video are caused by incorrect system configurations. However, it can also be due to temporary bugs, server outages, corrupted data, or faulty sound hardware.

In this guide, we will show you how to fix sound issues on Amazon Prime Video.

Let’s begin!

1. Check Amazon Prime Status.

Before doing anything on your account or device, we suggest checking Amazon Prime’s servers first if you encounter sound issues. This way, we can know if the problem is coming from the servers or your device.

You can use third-party websites like Downdetector to confirm Amazon Prime’s status.

3. Check Your Internet Connection.

Network-related problems could also cause sound issues while streaming. Due to this, it is important to have a fast and reliable connection when playing movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime Video.

To check if your network is the culprit, run a speed test using Fast.com to measure its current bandwidth.

Speed Test

If the test indicates a problem with your connection, reboot your modem or router to re-establish the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router from the outlet and allow 5 to 10 seconds to pass before reconnecting it.

Restart Router

Re-run the test afterward to check if your network is now working correctly. If not, contact your ISP and ask them to fix the issue.

4. Check Your System Volume.

There are instances when you need to turn down your system volume. However, you might have forgotten about it, and now you can’t hear anything while playing movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime.

Before tweaking your system configurations, double-check your device volume and ensure that it is turned all the way up.

5. Inspect Your Hardware.

Faulty or broken hardware could also cause sound issues on Amazon Prime Video. Your headset or speaker might have a broken driver, or its wires are not connected properly to your device.

Before playing any content, double-check your speaker or headset’s cables and ensure that they are not damaged. Second, reconnect the audio jack to your device to ensure that it is connected properly.

Lastly, check the actual speakers of your device and ensure that they are not damaged.

6. Close Unused Applications.

Another reason for sound issues on Amazon Prime Video is background applications. If audio is not working on Amazon Prime, other applications could be using your device’s speakers or headset.

To avoid this, we recommend closing any application that uses your speaker, such as web browsers, media applications, and other streaming services.

Once done, restart your device and try playing movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime to check if the problem is solved.

7. Update Your Audio Drivers (Windows).

If you’re using a Windows computer to stream content on Amazon Prime, we suggest updating your audio drivers. Drivers are an integral part of Windows, which enables the OS to control your hardware.

Without drivers, don’t expect your external and internal devices to work. See the steps below to update your audio drivers:

  1. First, press the Windows + X keys on your keyboard to open the Quick Menu
  2. Now, click on Device Manager
  3. Locate the Audio Inputs and Outputs tab and expand it.
