How to Fix Steam Store Buttons Not Working

Trying to figure out why some Steam Store buttons are not working?

Steam is home to thousands of PC games. It is an online video game distribution platform that helps users purchase games for their computers conveniently. Aside from the online store, Steam also packs other features.

With Steam, you can manage your game library easier, update games before launching, and communicate with your friends while playing.

However, Steam is not perfect, and it’s common for users to encounter issues on the platform.

If you’re here, you are probably having a hard time navigating the Steam Store since some buttons are not working.

Based on what we know, this issue is caused by a problem on Steam’s servers. On the other hand, it can also be due to your network connection, outdated software, or corrupted data.

In this guide, we will show you what to do if some Steam Store buttons are not working on your PC.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Check Steam Servers.

As we’ve mentioned above, this issue on Steam is often caused by their servers. Before changing your settings, we suggest checking the status of the platform first. You can use third-party sites such as Downdetector to verify if there are reported issues on Steam.

If Steam is currently down, the only thing you can do is wait for their team to address the issue.

However, if there’s nothing wrong with Steam’s servers, the issue could be coming from your end. Head to the remaining solutions below to fix the problem on your PC.

2. Restart Steam.

One of the simplest things that you can do if Steam is not working is restarting the app. There are times when Steam runs into temporary bugs and errors, which causes some features not to work.

Simply close Steam on your computer and wait for several seconds before relaunching it. Once done, go back to the Steam Store and check if all the buttons are now working.

3. Check Your Network Connection.

Another reason why some Steam Store buttons are not working on your PC is an unstable network connection. Since Steam is an online platform, you’ll need a decent internet to access its features, which includes the Steam Store.

To verify if your network is the culprit, run a test on your browser using Fast.com to measure your network’s current upload and download speed.

Speed Test

If the test indicates that your internet is the problem, restart your router or modem to re-establish the connection with your service provider. Unplug your router from the wall outlet and let it rest for a few seconds before plugging it back in.

Restart Browser

Once done, run another test to see if your network is now running correctly. If you continue to encounter network-related issues, contact your ISP and ask them to fix their service.

4. Refresh Steam Store.

Some users reported that they were able to fix the issue with the Steam Store by simply refreshing the page. Steam’s servers may be slowing down, which causes some buttons not to load correctly.

To refresh the Steam Store, right-click on any part of the page to access the options screen. Now, select the Reload option to refresh Steam.

Depending on the situation, it may take you a few refreshes before all Steam Store buttons start working.

We suggest trying this method around five to eight times just to be sure.

5. Delete Steam Download Cache.

Steam’s download cache includes data and update files for the Steam app and not only for your games. If some Steam Store buttons are not working on the platform, try clearing your download cache to see if the problem goes away.

  1. First, access the Settings on Steam.
  2. Next, click on the Downloads tab.
  3. Lastly, select the Clear Download Cache button and follow the prompts to continue.

6. Reinstall Steam.

If Steam Store buttons are still not working, we suggest reinstalling Steam on your PC. This way, you can ensure that its installation files are not corrupted and have the latest version possible.

Note that reinstalling Steam will delete all your games, so be sure that you have enough data bandwidth left to redownload them.

Follow the steps below to reinstall Steam:

  1. First, access the Control Panel on your computer.
  2. After that, click on Uninstall a Program and locate Steam from the list.
  3. Lastly, right-click on Steam and choose Uninstall
