But since then it’s been like what 8-10 years since it has passed? And after countless tries and errors transferring all my stuff from one iPhone to another has become somewhat like a yearly ritual.
I’ll show you how you can transfer all your ‘stuff’ such as your important messages, contacts, and all your app data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone X in just these ten little steps that’ll take you less than 10 – 15 minutes of your time.
Because what most people don’t understand but you do is that it’s a lot easier than you think.
What you’re going to need
• The latest iTunes installed on your computer
• Your iPhone
• Your iPhone’s charging cable
How to Transfer Data from Old iPhone to New iPhone X: 10 Steps
Step 1: Go ahead and plug in your old iPhone using your lightning cable into your computer.
Step 2: Open your iTunes.
Step 3: Tap on your iPhone icon.
Step 4: Tap Back Up Now.
Step 5: Make sure that you tick the box next to Encrypt iPhone Backup and add your password. (I’ll explain in a second why you need to do is)
Step 6: Once the backup is completed, unplug the phone from the computer.
Step 7: Turn off your iPhone and take out your SIM card. (unless if you’re starting afresh with a new SIM card on your new iPhone X).
Step 8: Done? Great! You’re almost there. Put your SIM card into your new iPhone X and then turn it on.
Step 9: Plug your iPhone X into your computer and then Slide to setup on iPhone.
Step 10: Restore from iTunes backup (remember the one that you did just now?).
That’s it! 🙂
The reason why you should Encrypt Backup is so that when you restore on your iPhone X, all of your password info will be brought along with it. (besides you can always change/remove it once you’re done.)
I don’t recommend this but ..
If you don’t have your computer nearby with you
Then you can use your iCloud.
But it’s best if you can try and get a hold of a computer anywhere you are, and do the first method. (even if that means to bribe your hotel manager, and yes it has happened before).
So if you still want to go ahead with this, then here’s how.
Step 1: On your old iPhone, make sure that it is connected to Wi-Fi. (If it’s low on charge, keep it charged).
Step 2: Go ahead and open your Settings app and then tap on your account (the one at top).
Step 3: Tap on iCloud.
Step 4: Tap on iCloud Backup.
Step 5: Tap on Back Up Now.
Step 6: Turn ff your iPhone and take out your SIM card. (unless if you’re starting afresh with a new SIM card on your new iPhone X).
Step 7: Done? Great! You’re almost there. Put your SIM card into your new iPhone X and then turn it on.
Step 8: Tap on Restore from iCloud and then sign into your iCloud (using your Apple ID).
It might take a while so your iPhone might feel a little tad hot than the usual. Don’t worry. It’s just doing this thing.
Share this guide with your family and friends so that they too can set up their new iPhone X the right (and of course the safest) way within just a few minutes. 🙂
