How to Fix Unable to Access Bing Chat on PC

AI-powered chatbots saw an increase in popularity ever since ChatGPT was released. Recently, Microsoft unveiled Bing Chat, an AI chatbot powered by OpenAI’s GPT platform. 

However, the service still needs to be fully ironed out, and errors might occur while using it. 

If you are here, we can assume that you are unable to access Bing Chat on your PC. 

Most of the time, server-related issues are the cause of this error. On the other hand, it can also be due to corrupted data, improper configurations, or slow network connections. 

Today, we’ll show you what to do if you can’t access Bing Chat.

1. Restart Your PC. 

Before tweaking your system configurations, try restarting your computer first if you encounter issues using Bing Chat. This should reload your resources and eliminate temporary errors that may have occurred during use. 

Here’s what you need to do: 

1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key to open the Start Menu. 
2. Go to the Power Options tab. 
3. Choose Restart from the options and wait for your system to reboot. 

Relaunch your browser afterward and see if you can now access the service. 

2. Join Waitlist. 

Unfortunately, Bing Chat isn’t available for everyone. Since Microsoft has just launched the service, it’s still limited to certain users. 

If you don’t have an account yet, we suggest that you join their waitlist. This way, you can get into the platform once slots become available. 

1. Visit Bing’s website using any browser. 
2. Now, click on Join the Waitlist. 
3. Sign in to your Microsoft account to complete the process.

If you don’t have a Microsoft account, click on ‘Create one’ under the email input field. 

3. Re-Login to Your Account. 

You can try logging out of your current session and logging back in if you still encounter issues accessing Bing Chat. This should refresh your account data and ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft account with Bing Chat access. 

Here’s what you need to do: 

1. Go to Bing Chat and click on your Profile in the upper right corner. 
2. Now, click Sign Out to stop your current session. 
3. Finally, log back into your account after 2-3 minutes. 

Once done, try using Bing Chat to check if the problem is solved. 

4. Try A Different Browser. 

While Bing Chat works best using Microsoft Edge, this doesn’t mean that you can’t use other browsers to access the service. If you are unable to access Bing Chat, switch to a different browser and see if the same issue occurs.

5. Turn Off VPN. 

Virtual private networks or VPNs are third-party services that protect your network and data from harmful entities online. They work by filtering your activity using various protocols and masking your IP address. 

However, this process can cause issues with your network and the websites you access. 

To avoid problems, we recommend turning off any VPN or Proxy on your computer before using Bing Chat.

6. Clear Browsing Data. 

If you continue to encounter issues accessing Bing Chat, try clearing your browsing data. Some of your caches and cookies may have gotten corrupted, causing issues to websites and services. 

Here’s what you need to do: 

1. Access your browser and go to Settings. 
2. Now, go to the Privacy tab. 
3. Look for Clear Browsing Data and click on Choose What to Clear. 

4. Change the Time Range to All Time. 
5. After that, click on all the checkboxes. 
6. Click on Clear Now to start the process. 

Once done, go back to Bing Chat, access your account, and see if the problem is solved. 

7. Disable Extensions. 

You can also try disabling your browser extensions if you are still unable to access Bing Chat on your PC. Some of your extensions could be interfering with the chatbot, causing it to encounter problems.

2. Now, choose Extensions. A pop-up window should appear on your screen. 

3. Click on Manage Extensions. 
4. Disable your browser extensions and restart your browser. 

Try accessing Bing Chat afterward to check if the problem is solved. 

8. Check Your Network. 

A slow or unstable internet connection could also be the reason you can’t access Bing Chat on your PC. Since you are using an online service, you’ll need stable internet to avoid problems while using Bing Chat. 

To confirm if your network is the problem, perform a test on your network using Fast.com. This should measure your network’s current performance. 

If the result indicates a problem with your connection, power cycle your modem or router to re-establish the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before plugging it back in. 

Once done, re-run the test to check if the problem is solved. If not, contact your provider and ask them to fix the issue. 

9. Go Incognito. 

You can also try accessing Bing Chat using incognito mode on your browser. This is common advice on Microsoft’s community page and many users were able to solve the issue after using incognito mode. 

To enter incognito mode, press CTRL + SHIFT + N on your keyboard. You can also click on More > New Private Window. 

Try using Bing Chat afterward to see if the problem is solved. 

10. Contact Microsoft.
