How to Fix Upload Issues on Whatsapp

Are you experiencing upload issues on Whatsapp?

When Whatsapp was released in 2009, the status was one of the most intriguing features on the platform. Instead of simply showing an online or offline note, users can customize their status and put any text in the field that shows up next to their names.

For some, this is a convenient feature that allows you to let people know what you’re doing at the moment.

Several years later, Whatsapp revamped its status feature. Now, users can share images and videos on their page that works similarly to Instagram’s Story. The original status feature was then renamed to “About”.

While this is a great addition to the app, many users experience issues while uploading a video or photo on the platform.

If you’re among these users, we got you covered.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to fix upload issues on Whatsapp.

Let’s begin!

1. Check Whatsapp Servers.

When you experience issues on Whatsapp or any online platform, the first thing you should do is check the status of its servers. This way, you can identify right away where the issue is coming from.

You can use third-party sites like Downdetector to view Whatsapp’s current situation.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do if the servers are down.

On the other hand, you can proceed to the next method below if there’s nothing wrong with Whatsapp’s servers.

2. Reupload Your Status.

Before trying out advanced producers, we suggest reuploading your status first on your account. A temporary error may have occurred while you were posting a photo or video, causing the upload to fail.

Restart the app and try posting another status on your account.

3. Restart Your Device.

If you still can’t upload photos or videos on Whatsapp, try restarting your device. This should clear your system cache and resolve any issues that may have occurred during runtime.

For Android users, here’s how you can restart your device:

  1. First, locate the Power button on your Android device.
  2. Now, press and hold it until the options menu appears.
  3. Lastly, choose Restart

Once done, go back to Whatsapp and try posting a status.

4. Check Your Network Connection.

A slow internet connection could also cause upload issues on Whatsapp. Since you’re uploading a photo or video to Whatsapp’s servers, a stable internet is required to avoid problems.

Run a test on your network using Fast.com to check if it’s the culprit.

Speed Test

If you’ve confirmed that your connection is the problem, reboot your router or modem to refresh the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for at least 5 seconds before plugging it back in.

Restart Router

Perform another test afterward to check if the problem is solved. If the issue persists, contact your service provider and ask them to fix their service.

5. Try Uploading Another Photo or Video.

Another thing you can do if you can’t upload a photo or video on Whatsapp is trying uploading a text or another media file to see if the issue would still occur. This way, you’ll know if the issue is with the photo or video you’re uploading or Whatsapp’s platform.

If you can upload other images fine, then the initial photo or video you’re trying to upload is problematic.

It may not be compatible with Whatsapp, or some of its data are corrupted.

6. Check Your Date & Time Settings.

Like any online platform, Whatsapp won’t work properly if your device date and time are not set properly. The servers might think that your device is suspicious since it doesn’t have the current date and time and block your access to the platform.

For Android users, see the steps below to change your date and time:

  1. First, open the Settings app on your device.
  2. After that, access the System tab and go to Date & Time
  3. Lastly, manually adjust the time or enable ‘Use Network-Provided Time’ and ‘Use Network-Provided Time Zone’.

  2. Next, go to General and access the Date & Time tab.
  3. Finally, enable ‘Set Automatically’

7. Check for App Updates.

The current version of Whatsapp you’re using may have an issue related to status update and file upload. To rule this out, ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed on your device.

For Android users, see the guide below to update Whatsapp:

  1. On your device, launch the Play Store and access your Profile
  2. After that, tap on Manage Apps & Device
  3. Finally, go to Updates Available and hit the Update button next to Whatsapp

9. Reinstall Whatsapp.

Here’s how you can delete Whatsapp:

  1. First, locate Whatsapp from your home screen.
  2. Next, press and hold its icon until the selection menu appears.
  3. Lastly, choose Uninstall (Android) or Remove App (iOS) to delete the app.

10. Report the Problem.

At this point, the last thing you can do is call the attention of their team.

Go to Whatsapp Help Center and get in touch with their team to report the issue you’ve been experiencing when posting a status. Provide all the information you can give to make it easier for Whatsapp’s team to assess the situation.
