Upwork Job Post Not Getting Any Applications? Here’s The Fix!

Are you trying to figure out why your Upwork job post is not getting any applications?

Upwork is filled with thousands of freelancers trying to win a project, and finding one should not be difficult. However, if your Upwork job post is not getting any applications, there is something wrong with either the platform or your job listing.

This problem is primarily caused by their servers being offline for scheduled maintenance or an unexpected error. On the other hand, you should also check your job listing and ensure that you get everything right.

Since this problem doesn’t give out an error message or point out a specific issue, troubleshooting can get confusing.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a simple guide on what to do if your Upwork job post is not getting any applications.

Let’s get started!

1. Improve Job Post.

If you are not getting any applications on your job post, your listing may be wrong. When posting a job on Upwork, ensure that you give out all the details for the position, including the payment rate, job description, and target completion date.

Besides, you should also check if you are giving proper compensation for the project and setting reasonable deadlines.

Since Upwork connects are now limited, freelancers may hesitate to waste their remaining connections on a job posting with no clear description.

2. Make Sure It Is Not Set to ‘Invite Only’.

Upwork allows its clients to list jobs that are only available for freelancers that they invite. Some clients prefer to handpick their candidates so that it is easier to decide who they should hire.

However, if you don’t want this, you may have set your job posting to ‘Invite Only’ by mistake, and now you are not getting any applications.

To fix this, simply go to your Upwork account and edit your job posting configuration and make sure that it is not set to ‘Invite Only’.

3. Add a Verified Payment Method.

If you haven’t added a payment method to your Upwork account, try doing so. Most freelancers prefer clients with verified payment methods since they look more legit.

Since most projects happen remotely, freelancers don’t want to gamble on clients with no payment method and get scammed.

To add a payment method, check out the guide below.

  1. First, access your Upwork account and click on your Profile
  2. After that, click on Settings
  3. Go to Billing Methods and click the Add Method button.
  4. Finally, enter your bank details or credit card information and click Continue. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

Once done, re-check your job posting and wait for freelancers to send their applications.

4. Build Your Work History.

If you’re new to the platform, consider taking in a few jobs for yourself to build a decent work history so that freelancers can have the confidence to work with you.

As you continue to hire freelancers, make sure that you establish a good relationship with them to give you great feedback.

Your work history and profile rating are essential factors that freelancers look into when applying for a job.

5. Try Using Fiverr.

6. Check Upwork’s Servers.

Server-related issues could also be the reason why your Upwork job post is not getting any applications. If the platform is not working, freelancers won’t be able to browse their job feed and apply for jobs.

To check the status of Upwork, try to visit their dedicated page, where they show their services’ current situation.

If Upwork’s servers are down, the best thing that you can do for now is to wait until their team gets everything sorted. However, you can also try the remaining methods below and see if anything works out for you.

7. Repost the Job.

Since hundreds of jobs are posted every minute, your job listing may have been covered by other posts, and freelancers do not see it.

Thankfully, there’s no limit to the number of job listings you can post on the platform. Try posting your project every couple of minutes to ensure that it stays visible to most freelancers.

Keep in mind that you should close the current job posting you have and open a new one. Duplicating your job posting and spamming it on the platform is against Upwork’s term of services.
