Is Upwork Down? Server Status and How to Fix

Have a feeling that Upwork servers are down but don’t know what to do?

Online platforms such as Upwork, YouTube, and Facebook rely on servers to deliver their services. Without servers, we won’t have access to websites and even the internet.

Developers perform system maintenance on their servers to ensure that it is running at all times and errors are being patched. However, unexpected problems like glitches and errors could still occur and are inevitable.

If you are experiencing problems on Upwork, there is a good chance that their servers are currently down.

Now, what should you do?

Usually, server-related issues are not fixable on the user’s side. However, there are known troubleshooting techniques that you can do to alleviate the situation.

Today, we’ll show you how to check the status of Upwork’s servers and what you can do to fix it.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Check Upwork’s Servers.

Upwork has a dedicated status page that makes it easier for its users to check their services’ status compared to other platforms. Head to their official site and check if there are any problems on Upwork.

However, if their servers are down, the status page could also be unavailable. In this case, you can visit third-party websites like Downdetector to view the status of Upwork and the past problems it encountered.

2. Turn Off VPN.

If Upwork’s servers are already having problems, the last thing you want is other applications interrupting your connection. Turn off any VPN that could be running on your device and see if the occurrence of errors is reduced.

Since VPNs randomly change your IP address, your device may have difficulties maintaining a stable connection with Upwork’s servers.

On the other hand, you can also try other VPNs like PureVPN. Compared to other VPNs, it keeps your connection fast and reliable while protecting your data from hackers and other entities.

3. Re-Login to Your Upwork Account.

Refreshing your account data might also help if Upwork’s servers are currently down. An error may have occurred on your user data when the servers went down and are now causing numerous problems.

To refresh your account data, try to sign out of your Upwork account, and log back in after a few minutes.

On mobile devices, you can sign out of your Upwork account by doing the following steps:

  1. First, open the Upwork app on your mobile device.
  2. After that, tap on your Profile from the top left corner of your display.
  3. Lastly, tap on your profile name and hit the Log Out button.

To fix this, run a full system scan using Malwarebytes on your computer. Malwarebytes is antivirus software that automatically detects viruses and removes them from your system with a press of a single button.

6. Turn Off Other Applications on Your Computer.

If you have many applications running on your computer, it can take up a lot of your system resources. Since Upwork servers are down, any slowdowns or interruption can potentially make things worse.

Caches and cookies are temporary data stored on your device locally to improve the performance of your browser. However, these data can accumulate and get corrupted without any warnings.

If this happens, you can expect errors to occur on Upwork and other websites that you visit.

To fix this, simply clear your browsing data to get rid of corrupted caches and cookies.

  1. First, open your browser and press the CTRL + H keys on your keyboard to open the History tab.
  2. After that, click on the Clear Browsing Data button from the side drawer.
  3. Now, click on Time Range and select All Time from the dropdown menu.
  4. Finally, make sure that caches and cookies are included in the process and hit the Clear Data button.
