How to Fix uTorrent Not Responding

1. Restart the uTorrent App.

3. Lastly, click on Restart to begin rebooting your computer. 

 

After your computer completely boots up, try starting the uTorrent client and download a few files to see if uTorrent would still enter a not responding state on your computer. 

 

 

3. Run uTorrent as an Administrator

5. Disabling Proxy Settings on Your Computer.

2. After that, type intecpl.cpl and hit Enter to open the Local Area Network Settings.

6. Allow uTorrent on Your Firewall. 

Another cause for the uTorrent program to crash is your Windows Firewall settings. Windows Firewall is a built-in feature of the Windows operating system that protects your computer from any malware.

On the other hand, if uTorrent still freezes after disabling your antivirus protection, you can try deleting uTorrent’s app data on your computer. 

 

 

8. Delete uTorrent’s App Data on Your Computer. 

uTorrent stores a small amount of data on your computer, which contains information on the torrent files that you are accessing and downloading. 

These “small amounts of data” are essential in retaining the progress of the file that you download whenever you close the uTorrent app or even if you turn off your computer.

3. This will open the Appdata Folder on your computer. Right-click on the uTorrent folder and select Delete.

 

4. Lastly, go to your Desktop and open Recycle Bin. Right-click on the uTorrent folder and click on Delete to remove the folder permanently on your hard drive.

Now, try to launch the uTorrent app once again and re-download your files to see if uTorrent continues not to respond. 

 

 

9. Reinstall the uTorrent Client.

1. On your computer, press on the Windows Key + S and search for Control Panel. 
2. After that, click on Open to launch the Control Panel. 

 

3. Inside the Control Panel, click on Uninstall a Program.

 

4. Now, from the list, scroll down and find the uTorrent client.
5. Right-click on the uTorrent client and select Uninstall. Follow the on-screen prompts to remove uTorrent from your computer.

 

6. Lastly, go to uTorrent’s website and download the latest version of the client. You can try testing by downloading a few files after the uTorrent has been completely installed.
