How to Fix Cannot See Reviews on Steam

Want to buy a game, but you cannot see its reviews on Steam?

Aside from providing the latest and greatest video games to your PC, Steam has also built a community where players can share their thoughts about games. This can be extremely helpful if you’re just browsing the store and some title caught your attention.

With Steam reviews, you can get a sense of the game’s quality and gameplay by reading other players’ statements.

Unfortunately, the review page of games on Steam doesn’t work all the time.

This can be a problem if you’re trying to purchase a game on a limited budget and end up getting a game that you eventually regret buying.

Most of the time, this issue on Steam is caused by a problem with the servers. However, other reasons, such as corrupted caches, slow internet connections, third-party apps, and outdated versions of the Steam app, could also cause the review section not to work.

In this guide, we’ll show you what to do if you cannot see game reviews on Steam.

Let’s get started!

1. Check Steam Servers.

Most of the time, server-related issues are the common reason you cannot see game reviews on Steam. To confirm this, you can use third-party sites like Downdetector, where you can see the current status of Steam’s services.

Steam Server Status

If there’s an ongoing issue with Steam, the only thing you can do is wait for their team to fix the problem.

However, if Steam’s services are up and running, it means that the issue is on your end. Proceed to the following method below to start troubleshooting the problem.

2. Restart Steam.

The first thing you can do if you cannot see game reviews on Steam is restart the app. This will allow your system to reload all of its resources and eliminate any temporary errors that may have occurred on Steam.

Simply sign out of your Steam account and close the dedicated desktop app. After a few seconds, re-launch Steam and log back into your account.

Go to the Steam Store afterward and see if you can now view game reviews on the Steam app.

3. Restart Your PC.

If restarting Steam was not enough, we suggest restarting your entire system. There might be a temporary bug or glitch on Windows that prevents the reviews page on Steam from loading.

Here’s how you can restart Windows:

  1. First, click the Windows icon on the Taskbar to open the Start Menu.
  2. Next, access the Power Options tab.
  3. Lastly, click the Restart button to reboot your system.

After restarting your system, go back to Steam to check if the problem is solved.

4. Check Your Network Connection.

Another reason why some pages on Steam are not loading is if your network is running slow. Since Steam is an online platform, it requires a reliable internet connection to function. To check if your network is the problem, run a speed test using Fast.com

Speed Test

This will measure your network’s current upload and download speed.

If the result shows that your connection is slow or unstable, reboot your router or modem to refresh the link between your router and your ISP’s servers.

Restart Browser

Once done, run another speed test to confirm if the issue with your network is solved. Get in touch with your service provider if your network continues to run slow and ask them to fix the problem.

5. Refresh the Page.

There are times when the page on Steam simply fails to load. Based on what we’ve found out, you can fix the review page’s issue by reloading it a couple of times.

While you’re on the game’s review page, right-click on any part of the screen and choose the Reload option.

Do this around 5 to 8 times and see if the reviews will load. If not, continue to the next solution.

6. Delete Steam Browser Cache and Cookies.

The dedicated Steam app has a built-in browser used for accessing the Steam Store. You can also use this browser to visit other pages using the in-game overlay feature of Steam.

If you cannot see game reviews on Steam Store, try clearing Steam Browser’s cache and cookies.

See the steps below to guide you on the process:

  1. First, click on the Steam tab on the menu bar and choose Settings
  2. After that, open the Web Browser tab and click on Delete Web Browser Cache
  3. Lastly, click the Delete All Browser Cookies to complete the process.

Once done, go back to the Steam Store and see if the reviews page is now loading.

7. Clear Your Browsing Data.

Browsers use temporary data generated from your activity called caches and cookies to improve its performance. This speeds up the loading times of websites and pages that you’ve already visited.

However, caches and cookies accumulate over time and could slow down your system. They can also get corrupted and cause various issues to the sites you visit.

To fix this, check out the steps below to clear your browsing data:

  1. On your browser, click on More and choose Settings
  2. Next, go to the Privacy and Security tab and click on Clear Browsing Data
  3. Under the Time Range tab, select All Time and include caches and cookies in the process.
  4. Finally, hit the Clear Data button.
