If you love watching documentaries about the earth, history, and science, Discovery Plus is a must on your entertainment system. Besides the standard mobile app, Discovery Plus is also available for the Amazon Firestick.

However, the dedicated app for the Firestick isn’t as stable as its Android and iOS counterpart.

1. Check Discovery Plus Servers. 

Before tweaking your configurations, we suggest checking Discovery Plus’ servers if the dedicated app for Amazon Firestick is not working. There might be an ongoing issue with the platform that prevents the app from functioning. 

To confirm this, you can use third-party tools like Downdetector to view the status of Discovery Plus’ servers.

If there are reported issues with the servers, the best thing you can do is wait. Sadly, server-related problems can only be addressed on Discovery’s end. This means that any changes on your Firestick won’t help. 

On the other hand, you can head to the next solution below if there are no issues with the servers. 

2. Restart Your Firestick. 

One of the quickest ways to fix most issues on your Amazon Firestick is to restart it. While it may look simple, restating your device allows your system to reload its resources and eliminate temporary errors. 

Check out the steps below to reboot your Firestick:

  1. First, open your Firestick and access the main menu. 
  2. After that, go to the Settings and click on My Fire TV
  3. Using your remote, highlight the Restart option and click OK

  1. On your Firestick, access the main menu and navigate to the Settings
  2. From there, click on My Fire TV and choose About
  3. Lastly, click on Check for System Update and follow the prompts.

6. Try Other Shows. 

If you are having a hard time streaming a certain show on Discovery Plus, it’s possible that the issue is not with the entire platform. To confirm this, go back to the media library and try playing other shows.

Allow several hours to pass before trying to watch that show again.

  1. I had a problem on firestick on the tv in living room. I’d got discovery+ working on tv’s kitchen and 2 bedroom firesticks also on my tablet and chromebook so I knew there was nothing wrong with signal strength. The front room firestick was just refusing to load discovery+.
    Went through all the suggested ways of getting it to work but no dice. In the end, I uninstalled discovery+ and re-installed it, had to sign in again but now works fine. Hope this helps.
