How to Fix Error Code 109 on Roblox

Keep seeing an error code 109 on Roblox?

Roblox is one of the best online game creation platforms, with millions of daily active users. With that traffic going in and out of the servers, it’s not surprising that the game suffers from occasional server problems.

While Roblox’s team is undoubtedly doing everything to keep the servers up, unexpected errors are simply inevitable on any platform.

If you’re here, you are probably getting an error code 109 when launching a game on Roblox.

Based on what we know, this problem on Roblox occurs when the game fails to connect with its servers. Usually, this issue is caused by faulty or offline servers. However, it can also be due to a slow or unstable network, corrupted game files, or improper device settings.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing the error code 109 on Roblox.

Let’s get right into it!

1. Check Roblox Servers.

Since the error code 109 on Roblox is mostly server-related, the first thing we suggest doing is checking the status of the platform. This way, you can identify right away if the problem is coming from your end or Roblox’s side.

You can use third-party tools such as Downdetector to view the current status of Roblox.

If there’s an issue with the platform, the only thing you need to do is wait for Roblox’s team to address the problem. On the other hand, you can proceed to the next solution below if there’s nothing wrong with the servers.

2. Restart Your Computer.

One of the quickest fixes for most minor issues on computers or any device is restarting its operating system. This will allow your computer to reload its resources and eliminate any temporary errors that may have occurred.

You can follow the steps below to reboot your PC:

  1. First, open the Start Menu on your computer.
  2. After that, access the Power Options tab.
  3. Lastly, click on Restart to begin rebooting your system.

Once done, go back to Roblox and see if you would still encounter the error code 109 when launching a game.

3. Try Out Other Games.

There are thousands of games available on Roblox. Since other users create these games, there’s a chance that the game you’re trying to play was taken down by the maker and is no longer available.

To confirm, browse Roblox’s library and try launching other games.

If you can load other games on the platform without running into the error code 109, it means that the issue is isolated to the game you initially played.

4. Check Your Network Connection.

A slow internet connection could also be the reason for the error code 109 on Roblox. Since you are using an online platform, your network should be working properly to avoid encountering issues.

If you can’t launch any games on Roblox, run a test on your network using Fast.com to measure its current speed.

Speed Test

Restart your network router or modem if your connection is unstable to refresh the link with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for at least 5 seconds before plugging it back in.

Restart Router

Perform another test afterward to confirm if the problem is solved. If not, contact your service provider and ask them to address the issue.

5. Flush Your DNS.

Corrupted DNS caches could also be the reason why you’re encountering the error code 109 on Roblox. When your DNS is not working correctly, applications would have a hard time connecting to their respective servers.

To fix this, see the steps below to flush your DNS cache:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows + X keys to access the Quick Menu
  2. After that, click on Command Prompt (Admin)
  3. Finally, type ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ and hit the Enter key to run the command.

After clearing your DNS cache, restart your computer and see if the error code 109 on Roblox is solved.

6. Disable VPN.

Virtual private networks or VPNs are third-party applications that protect your network and data from hackers and other entities. They can also bypass restrictions set by your ISP to access websites and apps not available in your region.

However, some VPNs are not efficient and could affect the performance of your network. If this happens, online applications may not function properly on your device.

If you are using any VPN on your computer, turn it off before playing Roblox.

PureVPN

On the other hand, you can try switching to a much more reliable provider such as PureVPN if you’re not comfortable going online without protection. Compared to other VPNs, it uses dedicated high-speed servers for a reliable and secure connection.

7. Allow Roblox to Your Firewall.

Windows Defender Firewall is a feature on Windows operating systems that control the access of applications to your network. If an application is not allowed through your firewall, it cannot connect to the internet.

If you keep seeing the error code 109 when launching a game on Roblox, check your firewall settings and ensure that the platform has access to your private and public networks.

Here’s how you can check your firewall settings:

  1. First, go to the Start Menu and look for ‘Allow an App Through Windows Firewall
  2. After that, click on Open to access your Windows Defender Firewall settings.
  3. Lastly, find Roblox from the list and allow it to access your Private and Public Networks

Try to play another game afterward to see if the error code 109 on Roblox would still occur.

8. Turn Off Your Antivirus.

For users who are running third-party antivirus, we recommend turning them off before playing Roblox. Although antivirus programs are great for keeping malware and other viruses away from your system, they can also get too protective.

When this happens, even legitimate programs and applications get blocked from your system, and they won’t work properly.

To avoid this, disable your antivirus before launching a game on Roblox or add the platform to your antivirus’ allow list or safelist.

9. Reinstall Roblox.

If none of the methods above worked for you, the only option left is to reinstall Roblox. This will ensure that Roblox is installed properly on your system and you have the latest version of the game.

Check out the steps below to reinstall Roblox on Windows:

  1. First, open the Control Panel on your Windows PC
  2. Next, click on Uninstall a Program and look for Roblox on the list.
  3. Lastly, right-click on Roblox and select Uninstall
