How to Fix Stuttering Issues on Fortnite

Are you getting annoyed with stuttering issues on Fortnite?

Fortnite is a fast-paced battle royale game developed by Epic Games. As an FPS title, precise movements and on-point aiming are key to winning matches in the game. However, how can you do that if you keep encountering stutters?

Recently, many users have reported stuttering issues on Fortnite even when playing on a mid to high-tier gaming rig.

This can be really annoying since FPS titles require fast reaction times.

Based on what we know, stutters on Fortnite are usually caused by slow network connections and unoptimized systems. On the other hand, it can also be due to third-party apps, problematic servers, or corrupted installation files.

If you currently experience this issue, you’ve come to the right place.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing stuttering issues on Fortnite.

Let’s begin!

1. Check Fortnite Servers.

Before changing or tweaking your system configurations, it’s important to know where the problem is coming from. Luckily, Epic Games has a dedicated status page where you can view the current status of Fortnite.

If Fortnite’s servers are down, it means that the issue is coming from their side, and you don’t have to make any changes to your system.

On the other hand, you can proceed to the next solution below if Fortnite’s servers are working.

2. Restart Your PC.

If you encounter performance issues on Fortnite, try restarting your computer first. This should allow your system to reload Fortnite’s installation files and ensure there are no temporary errors on your device.

Check out the steps below to reboot your Windows PC:

  1. First, open the Start Menu on your computer.
  2. After that, go to the Power Options tab.
  3. Lastly, choose Restart

Once done, go back to Fortnite and check if the problem is solved.

3. Lower Your Game Settings.

Stuttering issues on Fortnite may indicate that your hardware couldn’t handle your current graphics settings. If this is the case, we suggest lowering your graphics quality to reduce the load of Fortnite on your system.

Go to Fortnite’s settings and adjust your graphics to favor performance over quality.

4. Update Your Driver.

Corrupted or broken drivers could also be why you experience stutters on Fortnite. If your graphics drivers are not working, your GPU will have a hard time functioning properly, which causes performance issues.

To fix this, see the guide below to update your graphics drivers:

  1. First, open the Quick Menu by pressing the Windows + X keys on your keyboard.
  2. Next, click on Device Manager to launch it.
  3. After that, expand the Display Adapters tab.
  4. Lastly, right-click on your graphics card and choose Update Driver

See the steps below to guide you in the process:

  1. On your keyboard, press the CTRL + SHIFT + ESC keys to open the Task Manager
  2. After that, go to the Details tab and look for Fortnite
  3. Finally, right-click on the game, hover your cursor to the Set Priority tab and choose Realtime or High

Here’s how you can update Windows:

  1. Open Windows Settings on your computer.
  2. After that, go to Update & Security and click on Windows Update
  3. Lastly, click the Check for Updates button and follow the prompts if there’s a newer version available.
