How to Fix Telegram Not Opening on Mobile

1. Check Telegram Servers.

On the other hand, you can head to the next solution if there’s nothing wrong with the servers. 

2. Restart Your Device. 

A temporary bug or glitch may have occurred on your mobile device, preventing Telegram from launching. To rule this out, we suggest restarting your device to clear its temporary cache and eliminate errors. 

For Android users, follow the guide below to restart your device: 

  1. Locate the Power button on your Android device. 
  2. After that, hold it down until the options menu shows up. 
  3. Finally, tap on Restart to reboot your system.

  1. Access the Assistive Touch on your display. 
  2. Next, go to the Device tab. 
  3. Lastly, tap on More and choose the Restart option.

3. Check Your Network Connection. 

A stable internet connection is required when using online messaging services such as Telegram. If you can’t access Telegram on your mobile device, it might indicate a problem with your network. 

To confirm this, run a test using Fast.com to measure your network’s upload and download bandwidth.

If the result indicates a problem with your internet, we recommend restarting your router or modem to refresh the connection with your ISP’s servers. Unplug your router from the outlet and wait for 5 to 10 seconds before reconnecting it.

4. Turn Off VPN. 

Virtual private networks are third-party services that protect your network from hackers and websites that track your activity. They filter your data through their servers and mask your default IP address to hide your location.

To avoid issues, turn off your VPN first before accessing Telegram.

  3. Now, tap on App Info and open the Storage & Cache tab. 
  4. Lastly, tap the Clear Cache button.

6. Update Telegram. 

The current version of Telegram you’re using might have an underlying issue. If this is the case, we suggest updating the app to patch possible bugs and glitches on your device. Telegram might already be aware of the problem and could release a patch anytime. 

Head to the Google Play Store or App Store to update Telegram on your device. While you’re there, take the opportunity to update your other applications as well. 

7. Reinstall Telegram. 

If Telegram is still not opening on your mobile device, we recommend reinstalling the app. This should ensure that there are no problems with the application and you have the latest working version of Telegram.
