Getting annoyed with VODs that keeps restarting on Twitch?

While Twitch is popular for its live content. Users can also watch VODs on the platform. Video on demand is a feature that enables fans to watch previously streamed content on Twitch anytime.

Many content creators utilize video on demand on Twitch to grow their channels faster and allow fans to watch streams that they may have missed.

Unfortunately, some fans encountered issues using this feature.

Based on the reports, VODs keeps restarting on Twitch, causing the videos to play from the start. With streams going on for hours, it’s very annoying to have your videos start from the beginning and find where you left off.

This issue seems to plague users who are using the mobile app.

Usually, this issue is caused by server-related issues. However, it can also be due to advertisements that show on the platform.

Today, we will show you how to fix VODs that keep restarting on Twitch.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Check Twitch Servers.

Before changing your configurations, the first thing you should do is check the servers. When the servers are offline, expect errors to occur on Twitch. You can confirm this by visiting Twitch’s status page to check the servers.

If there’s a problem with the servers, the best thing to do is wait. Unfortunately, server-related issues can’t be resolved on your end.

This means that any changes on your end won’t affect the platform’s current situation.

On the other hand, you can proceed to the next method below if there’s nothing wrong with the servers.

2. Restart Your Device.

Restarting your device is one of the quickest ways to resolve most issues on Twitch. This should refresh your system resources and eliminate temporary bugs and glitches that may have occurred during use.

For Android users, here’s how you can restart your device:

  1. Locate the Power button on your Android device.
  2. Now, hold it down until the selection menu appears.
  3. Finally, choose Restart

Once done, go back to Twitch and observe if the problem still occurs.

3. Home Button Trick (Andriod).

For Android users, you can use the ‘Home Button Trick’ to prevent VODs from restarting. Unfortunately, this is just a workaround and not a permanent fix for the issue.

To do this, you’ll have to press the Home button once the VOD you’re watching restarts. This should take you back to your main screen. Go back to Twitch afterward and your video should pick up where you left off.

Unfortunately, this won’t work if you’re using gestures to navigate your device.

4. Use a VPN.

As it turns out, some advertisements showing on Twitch could cause VODs to restart if the ads fail to load. This means that this issue only occurs in countries where advertisements are shown.

This also means that this problem is not present in regions with no advertisements.

To resolve this problem, you can use a VPN to connect to a country without ads and the problem should not occur.

PureVPN

We recommend using PureVPN on your device. Unlike other services, it uses high-speed servers, which ensures secure and reliable connections.

PureVPN also works well with other streaming platforms such as Netflix and HBO Max.

5. Clear Your Cache (Android).

Clearing Twitch’s app cache could also resolve this issue on your device. A temporary bug or glitch may have caused some of your data to corrupt, causing problems to occur on the platform.

See the guide below to clear your cache:

  1. On your app drawer, press and hold Twitch’s icon until the options screen shows up.
  2. Next, tap on App Info and access the Storage tab.
  3. Finally, tap the Clear Cache button.
